TAG Heuer

April 2004

Piloted with energy by Jean-Christope Babin, TAG Heuer, in announcing its technical innovations for Basel 04, expands its palette at the same time in revisiting its past and in talking of the future. A means of increasing its target with on one hand exclusivity and on the other an entry price model.
At the summit, the Carrera Watch Gold presented at Basel 03 a year ahead of the 40th anniversary of the mythical watch created by Jack Heuer and equipped with the famous Calibre 11 movement since 1969.
Alongside the innovation, Kimi Räikkönen, a driver in the McLaren Mercedes team, is the new ambassador of the Formula 1 watch, destined for the 16 to 25 year olds. Launched in 1986, the Formula 1 model has been entirely re-designed and brought up to date. A unidirectional turning bezel in steel, easily manipulated and covered with black titanium, replaces the plastic bezel of the original model.
The Formula 1 now integrates the ‘six characteristics of TAG Heuer’: 1) Case in stainless steel, water-resistant to 200 metres. 2) Non-scratch sapphire crystal. 3) Screw-down crown with an easy grip. 4) Luminous hands and indices. 5) Easy-to-use unidirectional bezel with 120 divisions that permits a precise control to the nearest half-second/half-minute . 6) Double security buckle that can be integrated into a diving suit.
