amilton has a long aviation heritage dating back to 1918 when the pioneering pilots of the era put their trust in the precision of its watches and navigation instruments. This long history of serving the aviation community has instilled an understanding of the importance of accuracy in flight. In rescue settings and extreme environments, that importance is amplified.
Air-Glaciers is one of the most advanced helicopter rescue organisations in the world. Operating in the Swiss Alps, the helicopter pilots of Air-Glaciers demand performance and precision from their equipment. In creating the special edition Khaki Aviation Pilot, Hamilton designers and the Air-Glaciers team considered every detail of the watch during the design process. From materials to functionality, every aspect of the reference was carefully considered to ensure optimal accuracy and reliability in the field.
Materials play a key role. For the case, titanium was selected for its hypoallergenic qualities and strength-to-weight ratio. Opting for titanium cut the watch’s weight by 45 percent. Air-Glaciers crews spend long days on rescues, so comfort is essential. A nylon outer, leather lined Velcro strap offers all-day wearability with full customisation for fit and further reduces weight when compared to a metal bracelet. When saving lives is in the balance, no detail is too small.
“Timing is everything in our industry,” says Bernard Vogel, CEO of Air-Glaciers. “A few seconds can make all the difference in a rescue mission, or ensure the success of a transportation operation. Hamilton’s expertise in precision is a true asset to our daily operations."
The Khaki Aviation Pilot Air-Glaciers features Hamilton’s Swiss Made H-30 automatic movement with 80-hour power reserve with Nivachron™ balance spring for better resistance to magnetic fields, temperature variation and shocks. The special edition reference comes with an extra suede nubuck strap and exclusive Pelican Ruck Case R40 packaging.
