Nomos Tangente 2date boasts new dual-date displays

With a double date display on the front and a sun salutation on the back, the new date watch is the result of the Glashütte-based brand’s innovative engineering. This innovation is enabled by the hand-wound calibre DUW 4601, which is newly developed and manufactured in-house.

T

he dual date display of Tangente 2date has been attracting a great deal of media attention since its presentation at the 5th Forum Nomos Glashütte. And not without reason. With the new Tangente 2date model, Nomos is combining the traditional art of watchmaking with innovative engineering.

Two date displays are combined on a single dial in a way that only Nomos Glashütte can do. The date ring is placed around the outside of the movement, allowing for a classic date window at 6 o’clock, in addition to the unique and patented ring date.

This unusual display is a sign of what is hidden inside: DUW 4601, a newly developed hand-wound calibre from Nomos Glashütte. The fine sunbeam polishing that emanates from the Nomos swing system - the heart of every Nomos watch - celebrates the twelfth Nomos calibre in a magnificent way.

In addition to the Nomos date mechanism, the DUW 4601 offers true innovations in functionality with the convenience of rapid date adjustment and a 52-hour power reserve. Completing its appeal is the newly designed, skeletonised balance cock, which adds a touch of elegance to the movement. With a case diameter of 37.5 millimetres, Tangente 2date is a double tribute to technology and timekeeping - whether with a white silver-plated or galvanised blue dial.

Exclusive: 2date

With the unique Nomos ring date, you can see the entire month at a glance - with two markers at the edge of the dial framing the current date. The trapezoidal date window at 6 o’clock displays the day’s date in Tangente typography as well.

Quick date adjustment

The quick date adjustment function means that you can be back up to date in a moment, even if the watch has had a longer break and has not been wound. Half a turn of the crown per day is all it takes - in the second of three crown positions.

Refined dials

Tangente 2date with a white silver-plated dial shows the date with red numerals and markings, while the other numerals and indexes are black. The blue model comes in white and silver. The cool blue tone of its dial is created by polishing and grinding, followed by galvanisation.

A clear case

The straightforward and noticeably slender case with its characteristic angular lugs is water resistant to 5 atm. In the model with a sapphire crystal glass back, an extra-large window with anti-reflective coating shows richly decorated movement within - including the date ring plate.

This hand-wound movement from Nomos Glashütte has a completely new construction. It not only contains the innovative Nomos date mechanism, in which the date ring is placed around the movement, keeping it elegantly thin and allowing for two separate displays. It also features a convenient quick-set date mechanism. DUW 4601 is equipped with a particularly high-performance mainspring barrel and luxuriously finished in the traditions of Glashütte watchmaking.

Fine sunbeam ribbing

The traditional three-quarter plate and date ring plate of DUW 4601 feature fine sunbeam ribbing, radiating from the Nomos swing system and setting it off beautifully. Until now, this polish was reserved for the exclusive movements of gold models from Nomos Glashütte. DUW 4601 has earned it too.

Skeletonised balance cock

The screwed balance cock of DUW 4601 is elegantly skeletonised and gives a clear view of the Nomos swing system with its blue balance spring. A proprietary escapement of this kind is still extremely rare in the watchmaking world.

Increased power reserve

Fully wound, DUW 4601 ticks for more than two days—or up to 52 hours. The movement is still only 2.8 millimetres in height. This feat is made possible by the more delicate material used for the winding spring. An investment in optimisation, in the rich traditions of Glashütte.
