Shaken, Not Stirred: Fears × Studio Underd0g Serve Up the 02SERIES Manhattan in NYC

Following the runaway success of the Gimlet, Britain’s oldest and youngest watchmakers reunite for another cocktail-inspired creation - the 02SERIES Manhattan. Limited to just 300 pieces and available exclusively at the WindUp Watch Fair NYC, this 38mm cushion-cased timepiece blends Fears’ heritage design with Studio Underd0g’s playful modernity. Featuring a layered amber sapphire dial, a reliable manual-wind Sellita movement, and a supple Strap Tailor leather band, the Manhattan is a horological toast to craftsmanship, collaboration, and British ingenuity.

O

ne of Britain’s oldest watch companies and one of its youngest have joined forces once more. After The 02SERIES Gimlet caused a stampede upon its release in London, Fears and Studio Underd0g are heading to the Big Apple for another round of cocktails.

The 02SERIES Manhattan’s 38mm 316L Stainless Steel cushion-shaped case, inspired by the Fears Brunswick, is characterised by soft, rounded edges and elegant curves, offering a vintage feel while maintaining contemporary appeal and functionality. Housed within is a movement that is as reliable as your favourite bartender: the manual winding Swiss Sellita SW210-1. The minimalistic caseback is garnished with nothing more than a couple of cocktail cherries. The watch is paired with a beautifully supple handmade Art Wax tobacco brown strap, courtesy of another British company, The Strap Tailor.

The multi-layer dial has been achieved by using current-day machining techniques and modern materials. It is made up of a sunburst silver base dial featuring a radial fumé, with a 1mm thick amber coloured sapphire disc atop. Once these two dials are affixed to one another via two slotted head pins, it creates a crisp dial with a silky depth, akin to its namesake.

The printed details appear to float, casting a shadow on the lower base dial. As the watch moves around in relation to the light source, the shadows move accordingly, resulting in a dynamic and ever-changing appearance.

The Manhattan, limited to only 300 pieces, will be offered exclusively during the WindUp Watch Fair NYC (October 17th - 19th) available in order of purchase (first come, first served).

A Gimlet, followed by a Manhattan will no doubt result in a heavy head the following morning, and naturally there is only one solution. The Hair of the d0g will be officially revealed on October 19th, with a global release scheduled for the following week.

Though separated by 175 years, Fears and Studio Underd0g represent two distinct yet complementary facets of British watchmaking - heritage and innovation. United by a shared passion for advancing Britain’s horological sector, both brands contribute to the ongoing revival of British watchmaking.
