acob & Co. presents The Godfather Sculpture, a singular artistic creation inspired by the brand’s Godfather timepiece. This monumental work transforms one of Jacob & Co.’s most iconic horological masterpieces into a large-scale, functional sculpture that merges fine craftsmanship, mechanical ingenuity, and cinematic tribute.
Handmade from premium materials and conceived as both an object d’art and a kinetic performance, The Godfather Sculpture measures 1310 x 810 x 770 mm (4.3 x 2.66 x 2.53 ft) and weighs 175 kg (386 lbs). Entirely constructed in stainless steel with fine glass panels and leather accents, it reimagines the visual and mechanical poetry of the original timepiece at an architectural scale.
The project is built around seven independent elements, each highlighting the technical savoir-faire and storytelling ambition of Jacob & Co.:
- The body: Handcrafted from 304 stainless steel with side glass panels and either a domed or flat top, adorned with decorative motifs including a violin, button, and Italian leather straps
- The main platform: An electromechanical base rotating clockwise, serving as the foundation for the sculpture’s mechanical choreography.
- The watch mechanism platform: A counter-rotating secondary platform, echoing the dynamism of fine watchmaking.
- The watch mechanism: The mechanical heart, developed by Costa Design with German Hermie components, spring-powered 7-10 day reserve.
- The fins: Motor-driven kinetic features, animating the sculpture with theatrical motion.
- The tri-axial tourbillion: A faithful, spring powered simulation of the legendary complication, enhanced with discreet DC motor support.
- The music boxes, piano and cylinder: Dual systems recreating “The Godfather” theme. One features twin rotating cylinders plucking tuned keys, while the other, an acoustic piano, amplifies vibrations through a membrane microphone, echoing the emotional resonance of the film.
The sculpture is supported by a custom-crafted presentation box measuring 1700 x 1120 x 1000 mm (5.58 x 3.67 x 3.28 ft) with a combined total weight of 295 kg (650 lbs.). Every subsystem, including its electromechanical motors, has been meticulously integrated to preserve both functionality and refined aesthetics.
With The Godfather Sculpture, priced at $330,000 USD, Jacob & Co. extends its commitment to redefining the limits of creativity, transforming a watch into a kinetic, multi-sensory experience. This sculptural masterpiece celebrates the enduring legacy of “The Godfather” while elevating horology into the realm of monumental art.
