ustomization on the highest level in the latest masterpiece of haute horlogerie: the Christiaan van der Klaauw Planetarium ‘Julie’. This extraordinary timepiece is crafted based on the very special wishes of a true friend of the Christiaan van der Klaauw brand. After brainstorming with CEO and Master Watchmaker Pim Koeslag, the base of his wishes became clear. The watch should be something truly unique and should be a tribute to this collectors young daughter. Now, these ideas have been transformed into an exceptional watch, unitizing the wishes into something never done before on any Christiaan van der Klaauw watch!

The Team of Christiaan van der Klaauw Astronomical Watches has meticulously sculpted this timepiece, ensuring that its construction reflects the highest standards of Haute Horlogerie and customization.

At the heart of this timepiece lies the Planetarium complication: the smallest mechanical planetarium in the world that accurately displays six planets of our solar system. Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn, moving in real time around the Sun. This breathtaking mechanism captures the celestial dance of our Solar System with unmatched precision, making it a true marvel of both astronomy and watchmaking.

However, the entire above described Planetarium module had to be redesigned to be able to fit in the chosen theme of a skeletonized Planetarium. The bridges and main plate of the Planetarium module had to be produced in different shapes to better fit the Shape of the CVDK brand logo, The sun with 12 claws.

All the bridges had to be cut out and skeletonized. The anglage has no less than 70 inward angles, a proof of the highest form of hand finishing. The hand applied Hindu/Arabic indexes are placed on a transparent sapphire crystal dial, allowing the skeletonized spectacle to be admired.

The image of the face ‘en profile’ of Julie, the name giver of the watch, is hand engraved by Master Engraver Kees Engelbarts on the barrel. As the barrel is rotating, Julie’s face is engraved twice as a mirror image, to be visible at all times.

The CKM-01 movement is also completely customized, its bridges are completely skeletonized and beveled by hand, the movement is housed in an titanium case. The case back is engraved with the text `Piece Unique` and the bezel is made out of solide meteorite. This extraordinary material shaped by the universe itself, 4,6 Billion years old, is older then our earth hand features a unique Widmanstätten pattern, formed over millions of years of slow cooling in space, making it truly one of a kind.
