Alpina × TRTS Seastrong Diver Extreme Automatic Special Edition: a bold new statement!

Alpina and the watch-crazy hosts of The Real Time Show podcast have joined forces to come up with a very special edition of the Seastrong Diver Extreme Automatic. Focusing on the dial, the project turns the Seastrong collection style codes upside down with new colours, a new dial, and new hour markers. Even the Alpina logo at 12 o’clock has been revisited, while the flange has been done away with altogether. The overall result delivers stunning levels of readability – and a new Seastrong that’s more imposing than ever.

he Alpina × TRTS Seastrong Diver Extreme Automatic Special Edition is a limited-release model designed by The Real Time Show podcast hosts Alon Ben Joseph and Rob Nudds in collaboration with Alpina Watches. It is released on 27 November 2025 as an online exclusive until February 2026, when it will be distributed to Alpina’s retail partners around the world.

This special edition brings several changes to the established Seastrong design: an emphasis on excellent readability plus a blend of modern tool watch characteristics and an elegant dial finish, honouring the Alpina heritage that dates back to 1883.

“Our conversation with Alpina began a couple of years ago, not long after The Real Time Show really started to gain traction,” says Rob Nudds, co-designer of this TRTS edition. “The show’s policy is simple: we only work with the brands we like, and we love Alpina and what Oliver and the team have been doing in recent years. Personally, my favourite line has always been the Seastrong as I prefer hardy tool or dive watches able to stand up to the outdoor pursuits I enjoy; as soon as we heard about the new, smaller case size, we put pen to paper. We were thrilled to have the opportunity to apply the TRTS treatment to this watch, focusing as ever on edgy, readable displays with strong contrast and that signature flash of colour.” A vivid orange seconds hand stands out clearly against a more muted backdrop: a charcoal dial featuring a finely grained surface beneath a gloss layer of lacquer. The wordmark and ‘automatic’ wording are in ton-sur-ton black, disappearing when viewed from some angles so as to heighten the contrast offered by the orange seconds hand and the pure white lume specially developed by Alpina for this project.

Alpina’s Director Oliver van Lanschot Hubrecht says: “Following early discussions with Alon and Rob about this collaboration, I’m amazed at the look of this new take on the Seastrong Extreme design and thrilled to be sharing the watch with our fanbases. Collabs are always a very exciting way to gain a fresh perspective on product design and interact with a new group of people. There’s something uniquely special about the way Alon and Rob have come together from different backgrounds to collaborate on TRTS and grow the show to where it is today. I’m truly impressed and inspired by their content and their engagement with the TRTS community. This is set to be a winning partnership on all levels.”

The rehaut ring that features prominently in the core collection has been removed, widening the dial aperture and allowing for larger hour markers and an integrated minute track for improved to-the-second readability. The matte black base of the ceramic bezel insert blends with the charcoal grained dial, while the gloss finish on the raised minute markers echoes the gloss wordmark and ‘Automatic’ wording, linking the interior to the exterior.

The darker hour and minute hand frames enclose a crisp, bright white lume segment that stands out clearly against the greyer dial. The hallmark counterweight on the lumed seconds hand has also been kept black here, pushing the focus towards the elongated tip; as a result, this really pops against the ever-shifting (but never distracting) dial texture.

Alon Ben Joseph says: “We wanted to make a watch that stayed on-brand for both Alpina and The Real Time Show whilst being sufficiently different from what has gone before to give our community something new to obsess over. A lot of our listeners are Alpina owners already, and they were really excited when we told them we’d be working with the brand. After a lot of conversations with them in The Real Time Network on WhatsApp, as well as one-on-one discussions, we got a strong feeling of the direction in which we should travel. I’m really happy with how the watch turned out and can’t wait to see it on the wrists of many of our community members at our next get-together in Amsterdam, London, or even further afield.”

Presented on a black rubber strap (visually tied to the screw-down knurled black crown) the timepiece sports a rugged, nautical appearance. Thanks to the recently redesigned proportions of the Alpina Seastrong case (now 39mm in diameter, 12mm in height, and 40.5mm lug-to-lug), the watch offers a low-profile, compact wearing experience, suitable for most wrist sizes.

The Alpina × TRTS Seastrong Diver Extreme Automatic Special Edition will only be produced in small numbers. Initially, it can be purchased directly from Alpina’s website for a price of €2,195.
