Voutilainen 216TMZ

Inspired by the Voutilainen workshop’s philosophy of longevity, precision, classical watchmaking tradition combined with innovation, the 216TMZ features a fully developed integrated movement with worldtime complication. Blending refined aesthetics with practical functionality for the modern traveller, the timepiece moves seamlessly across time zones. From its hand-guilloché dial to its meticulously finished calibre as well as robust and elegant case, it embodies enduring beauty, technical mastery, and a spirit of exploration.

T

he 216TMZ has been developed to integrate new complications that require the entire surface of the main plate on the dial side, without significantly affecting the thickness of the movement. To achieve this, the escapement has been slightly modified, while preserving its original functioning.

The timepiece features a worldtime complication, a sophisticated mechanism allowing easy reading of the time simultaneously in all major cities around the world. It is remarkably intuitive to use: by simply pressing the crown inwards, each press advances the synchronised hour hand, 24-hour disc with day/night indication, and the city disc.

The city positioned at 12 o’clock becomes the reference for local time, without affecting the minutes. Meanwhile, all other cities on the disc display the correct time in their respective time zones. Both the city disc and the dial itself can be customised according to the client’s wishes, making every piece truly unique.

The mechanism has been designed, built, fabricated, hand-finished and assembled within the Voutilainen workshop with the utmost precision, care and passion. It features a very large balance wheel crafted in-house, allowing a perfect regulation of the watch within strict tolerances.

Additionally, a rare and unique balance spring system has been used. The exterior of the spring has a typical Phillips overcoil, while the internal curve uses the little-known Grossmann curve further increasing accuracy.

The sapphire case back reveals the caliber’s intricacies that is meticulously finished to the highest standards by the expert artisans of the Voutilainen workshop. The surfaces of pinions and wheels are completely flat and polished with exceptionally uniform tolerances. The main plate and bridges, made from German silver, are decorated by hand to achieve the utmost levels of surface finish. Screws and all steel parts are also finished and polished by hand.

Paying tribute to the art of hand -guilloché, the dial is adorned with beautiful patterns highlighted by a blue hue. This refined interplay of textures and artistry, elevated by the play of light, enhances the timepiece’s appearance and underlines the extraordinary skill involved in the Voutilainen timepieces. Gold applied Arabic numerals complete the composition in perfect harmony.

Completing the overall design, the timepiece in 39mm is paired with an elegant hand-sewn grey crocodile strap.
