n October 26th 1958, Pan Am® became the first commercial airline to operate jet-powered transatlantic service, flying the legendary Boeing 707 “Clipper America” from Idlewild International Airport (now JFK) to Paris-Le Bourget. Marking this historic date, the ‘26’ on the date wheel of The C60 Clipper GMT reflects Pan Am’s iconic blue livery, while the limited edition number - 707 - pays homage to the aircraft that reshaped global travel.
Mike France, CEO and Co-Founder of Christopher Ward, said: “Pan Am wasn’t just an airline – it was a pioneer, shaping the future of air travel with style, innovation, and meticulous attention to detail. At Christopher Ward, we share that same ambition - to push the boundaries of watchmaking while remaining true to our principles of precision and design. The C60 Clipper GMT celebrates this legacy, combining the evocative golden age of aviation with modern innovation.”
Housed in a 42mm Light-catcher™ case, The C60 Clipper GMT features a blue, 24-click, bi-directional bezel with IATA airport codes, denoting 24 significant locations in Pan Am’s history, including: Dallas, Texas (DAL -6), a popular Pan Am location that ran services to London and Frankfurt, as well as the location of the first Christopher Ward showroom in the United States; La Paz, Bolivia (LPB -4), one of the main South American destinations of PANAGRA, Pan Am’s transport consortium that expanded the airline’s reach across the continent; or Key West, Florida (EYW -5), specially highlighted in red to mark the location of Pan Am’s first-ever flight in 1927.
The blue aluminium bezel enables instant worldtimer functionality. With the hour (or GMT) hand set to GMT+0 and the GMT triangle aligned on the bezel, the 24-hour rehaut under the crystal shows the time in any of the 24 cities at a glance.
The hour, GMT, and minute hands are filled with Super-LumiNova Grade X1 BL Old Radium, as are the indexes, providing a 1950s retro-inspired glow. The second-hand counterbalance replaces the traditional Trident with a blue Pan Am Clipper™ plane - a nod to the watch’s aviation inspiration - while retaining 300m water resistance for true dive capability.
The Pan Am® “Blue Meatball” globe - once the world’s second most recognised trademark (1991) - is deep stamped into the closed, screw-down caseback, and each piece is laser-engraved with its limited edition number.
On the collaboration, Craig Carter, CEO of Pan American World Airways, commented, “Pan Am has always stood for possibility - opening the world and inspiring people to explore it with style and purpose. This collaboration with Christopher Ward has distilled that philosophy into a timepiece that honours our past and speaks clearly to our future.”
“The C60 Clipper GMT is a tribute to the ingenuity that made Pan Am a global icon. It honours our heritage while embracing the modern, forward-looking vision guiding this luxury brand today. We’re proud to see this legacy carried into a new era through such exceptional craftsmanship.”
Christopher Ward’s U.S. Brand Director Michael Pearson added, “The C60 Clipper GMT feels like the perfect watch to mark a hugely exciting moment for us in the U.S. With three showrooms now open, including our latest in New York City, it’s exciting to see the brand really taking off here. This watch is a great example of the ambition and innovation that will carry us into 2026 and beyond. And to be partnering with an American icon like Pan Am Airlines makes it even more special - a collaboration that celebrates both our shared spirit of adventure and a love for the golden era of travel.”
Powered by the Sellita SW330-2 GMT movement, this watch has a 56-hour power reserve and a timing tolerance of +/- 20 seconds per day.
