The Edition 1Z (“Z” for “Zeiger,” meaning “hand”) was MeisterSinger’s first special edition watch featuring an enamel dial, introduced in 2004. Limited to just 222 pieces at the time, quite apart from its intricately crafted dial, the model stood out with its blued steel single hand and the specially designed Unitas 6497 pocket watch caliber. With its Geneva stripes, blued screws, a Glucydur screw balance, and a swan-neck fine regulator, this special edition was a veritable eye-catcher, even through the glass exhibition back.

The Unitas 1Z Edition continues this tradition with conviction and, in its design and features, is reminiscent of MeisterSinger’s very first enamel edition.

The white enamel dial of the Unitas 1Z Edition is brought to life in a highly complex, multi-day process that only a handful of specialists still master today.

In multiple painstaking stages, finely ground enamel powder is applied to a copper dial and then fired at around 800°C. In this intricate process, absolute precision decides between success and failure. Even a deviation of just a few degrees in temperature, or a few seconds too long or too short in the kiln, can quite literally undo days of meticulous work, as the enamel may crack, warp, or even shatter. Every flawless dial is therefore the culmination of many years of experience and the unwavering pursuit of perfection.

The design of the dial intentionally echoes the timeless aesthetics of classic pocket watches. The combination of sweeping typography in the signature MeisterSinger 365 style, slender hour markers, and additional dots for each five-minute interval give the timepiece its distinctive look. An inner printed ring of numerals draws attention to the true preciousness of time, revealing just how many priceless minutes are hidden within every hour of a lifetime. The intricately heat-blued hand, with its extra-long overhang, ideally completes the watch’s historically inspired appearance.

The Unitas 1Z Edition is powered by the legendary Unitas 6497 pocket watch caliber – a movement now found only very rarely in wristwatches.
