Chronoswiss Opus Dakar Sundown

Chronoswiss introduces the Opus Dakar Sundown, a new interpretation of the celebrated Opus Dakar that captures the fleeting magic of sunset over the desert. This striking chronograph blends stainless steel and 18ct red gold into a warm two-tone composition that mirrors the final golden rays dancing across endless dunes. A celebration of contrasts, the Opus Dakar Sundown combines rugged spirit with refined craftsmanship, bringing a new dimension to the Opus legacy.

T

he Opus Dakar Sundown is housed in a distinctive 41mm two-tone case crafted from stainless steel and 18ct red gold. The warm glow of precious metal flows seamlessly into the robust steel construction, creating a visual interplay reminiscent of the desert landscape as day gives way to night.

At the heart of the watch beats the Chronoswiss Manufacture Caliber C.741S, a fully skeletonized chronograph movement that transforms every measurement of time into a visual spectacle. The central chronograph seconds hand works in harmony with a 30-minute counter at 12 o’clock and a 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock, allowing elapsed time to be tracked with precision and clarity. A running small seconds display at 9 o’clock provides a constant indication of the movement’s heartbeat, while a discreet date display at 3 o’clock enhances everyday practicality.

Together, these functions showcase the perfect balance between mechanical complexity, functionality, and the adventurous spirit that defines the Opus Dakar Sundown. Paired with a sand-colored nubuck leather strap, the watch evokes the colors of sunlit dunes, weathered terrain and the golden horizon that defines the final moments before dusk.

The dial draws inspiration from the rich palette of the desert, where warm brown tones and modern CVD technology create a composition that feels both timeless and adventurous. The skeletonized chronograph movement remains fully visible, revealing the intricate mechanics beneath the surface. Every bridge, wheel and component contributes to a display that is as captivating as the landscape that inspired it.

The Opus Dakar Sundown continues the legacy of one of the most important timepieces in the brand’s history. The skeletonized chronograph architecture offers a dynamic view into the heart of mechanical watchmaking while delivering the performance and reliability collectors expect from Chronoswiss.

For more than three decades, the Opus collection has embodied the bold spirit of Chronoswiss. With the Opus Dakar Sundown, that spirit is reimagined through the warmth of red gold and the enduring character of stainless steel. It is inspired by adventure, shaped by craftsmanship and illuminated by one of nature’s most spectacular moments.
