Laco Frankfurt 40 GMT: compact size, full functionality

With the new Frankfurt 40 GMT, Laco expands its successful GMT collection with a more compact interpretation of the series.

F

or years, the Frankfurt GMT has been an integral part of the Laco collection as a 43 mm model, combining the clear functionality of classic pilot watches with the needs of modern travelers. Its distinctive design has already been recognized with the Red Dot Award. With a case diameter of 40 millimeters, the new version complements the existing model while offering the same functionality in a more versatile format.

The second time zone remains at the heart of the Frankfurt 40 GMT. Home time and local time can be tracked simultaneously using the additional 24-hour hand and the internally mounted bidirectional bezel – ideal for business travelers, frequent flyers and anyone with international connections. Adjustment is carried out via the second crown, a distinctive feature that has been part of the Frankfurt GMT since its introduction.

The new version also stays true to its design roots. The dark sandblasted stainless steel case draws inspiration from historic pilot watches and classic cockpit instruments. Its matte finish reduces reflections and reinforces the watch’s functional character. A double-domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides protects the dial and ensures excellent legibility. With water resistance up to 20 ATM and additional magnetic field protection, it is well equipped for everyday wear as well as more demanding environments.

Clear Arabic numerals, distinctive hands and carefully placed orange accents ensure quick orientation at a glance. Thanks to the use of Superluminova, all essential information remains easy to read even in low-light conditions. The Frankfurt 40 GMT is available with either black or grey dial. While the black version emphasizes the watch’s classic pilot watch character, the grey variant offers a more contemporary appearance with an almost monochromatic look. Signature elements of the Frankfurt GMT series have, of course, been retained. These include the second hand featuring a stylized aircraft, the airplane relief engraved on the solid case back, and the distinctive orange accents that have become a defining characteristic of the collection over the years.

The watch is delivered as a complete set in a premium aluminum case. In addition to the watch fitted with a water-resistant Fibertech strap, the package includes an additional two-piece nylon strap in grey and orange, a strap-changing tool and a matching “Remove Before Flight” keychain. The Frankfurt 40 GMT is now available with either a black or grey dial at a retail price of €1.850.
