More than four decades later, that same spirit continues to thrive in Switzerland, where the artisans and watchmakers of the Atelier Lucerne continue to challenge conventions and redefine what Modern Mechanical can be.

For this special release, Chronoswiss turns to a material shaped not by human hands, but by time itself. Fittingly, the Small Second Jasper features a natural stone from Germany, honouring the birthplace of Chronoswiss and the vision of its founder. The Small Second Serpentine, on the other hand, showcases a Swiss stone, celebrating the country where Chronoswiss continues to innovate today. Together, the two watches connect the origins of the brand with its present.

The story of these watches begins millions of years before the first mechanical movement was ever conceived.

The Serpentine stone dial used for the Small Second Serpentine originates from the region surrounding Zermatt and the Matterhorn. Its story is one of the most remarkable in geology. What appears today as a rich green stone was once part of an ancient ocean floor. During the collision of continents, these rocks were pushed upward and eventually became part of the Alps themselves. Named after the Latin word serpens , meaning serpent, the stone owes its name to the intricate patterns that resemble snakeskin, a distinctive characteristic that has fascinated stone cutters and collectors for centuries.

The Jasper selected for the Small Second Jasper tells a different story. Often referred to as the “painted stone of the Earth”, Jasper is celebrated for its extraordinary diversity of colors and patterns. No two pieces are alike. For centuries, Germany has been home to some of Europe’s most renowned stone-cutting traditions, particularly in the historic region of Idar-Oberstein, where generations of artisans transformed raw minerals into objects of beauty and permanence.

No two stone dials are ever alike. Every dial begins as a carefully selected slice of natural stone, revealing patterns, structures and colors that can never be replicated. Depending on where the stone is cut, veins, textures and shades emerge differently, ensuring that every watch becomes a unique creation.

The Small Second Jasper captivates with a landscape of warm beige, brown and ivory tones. Its natural formations evoke desert landscapes, ancient rock layers and the quiet beauty of geological time. Housed in a refined stainless-steel case, it embodies understated elegance and timeless sophistication.

The Small Second Serpentine presents a vivid green dial filled with natural depth and character. Hidden structures reveal themselves as light moves across the surface, creating an ever-changing visual experience. To complement the vibrant character of the stone, Chronoswiss pairs it with a sophisticated two-tone case crafted from stainless steel and 18ct red gold, adding warmth, contrast and contemporary luxury. Limited to just 50 pieces each, every watch becomes a one-of-a-kind expression of nature’s artistry.

The Small Second collection is one of the purest expressions of the Chronoswiss design philosophy. With its refined 40 mm case and sleek 11.5 mm profile, the Small Second focuses on the essentials while remaining rich in detail and craftsmanship. The polished fluted bezel, streamlined onion crown and curved sapphire crystal create a silhouette that is unmistakably Chronoswiss.

Beneath the dial beats the Chronoswiss Manufacture Caliber C.6000. The automatic movement delivers a power reserve of approximately 55 hours and features a skeletonized tungsten rotor, Geneva-striped bridges and refined finishing visible through the sapphire crystal case back.

The decentralized & hand guilloched small seconds display at 9 o’clock provides visual balance while allowing the natural beauty of the stone to take centre stage. Every detail has been carefully considered to create a timepiece that feels both contemporary and timeless.
