oxel is a new independent watchmaking maison born from the encounter between two highly passionate founders from very complementary background - Thibault Luc, a creative director and watchmaking entrepreneur, and Bruno Herbet, a Vallée de Joux-based microtechnology engineer specializing in movement development, prototyping and horological architecture. The French creative and Swiss horological engineering skills are combined to unveil Meridion VX01-E, its first creation and first proprietary complication: a mechanical 12/24-hour jumping display, designed to offer a new way of reading time throughout the day.
At 1:00 PM, the display instantly switches from a 12-hour format to a 24-hour format. At 1:00 AM, it automatically returns to the 12-hour format. This instant alternation structures the daily cycle into two distinct readings of time, while removing any ambiguity between AM and PM formats.
Between French Design and Swiss Made, Voxel develops a contemporary vision of watchmaking: a horology of presence, where design, architecture and mechanics give time a tangible expression in everyday life.
Each creation is built around three founding principles: an assertive and balanced design, useful engineering developed in-house, and uncompromising manufacturing standards. This approach gives rise to mechanical watches with a strong identity, designed to combine presence, legibility and intuitive everyday use.
For centuries, meridians have structured and connected the world through time. Invisible but playing an essential role, they connect continents, guide travellers and rhythm the passage of moments across time.
With Meridion VX01-E (First Edition) Voxel transposes this logic into a contemporary mechanical watch: a timepiece designed to accompany those moments when time can show a different face of itself. Day to Night. AM, to PM.
As the maison’s first creation, Meridion VX01-E introduces a proprietary mechanical 12/24-hour jumping display complication. Where a conventional display repeats the same 12-hour cycle twice, Meridion VX01-E mechanically alternates between two reading formats: 12 hours for the first part of the daily cycle, then 24 hours from 1:00 PM onwards. At 1:00 AM, the display automatically returns to the 12-hour format.
This instant switch makes the AM / PM distinction immediately legible, without adding a secondary indication to the dial. The display and identity of the dial transform throughout the day, alternating between two time systems, contrasting index layouts and a luminescent Swiss Super-LumiNova® BGW9 signature that accompanies the end of the day and gives the watch, after dark, a striking nocturnal presence. Each half-day becomes a transition — a new chapter in the daily cycle.
At the heart of the watch, the Reactor module forms the supporting structure of the 12/24-hour complication. It combines the function of a structural plate and a casing ring, while surrounding the movement at 360°. This construction optimizes the integration of the calibre within the case and reinforces the mechanical coherence of the whole.
Visible through the screwed caseback with double smoked glass, the Reactor reveals the internal construction of Meridion and brings a technical signature unique to Voxel. Meridion adopts a contemporary sport-chic aesthetic built around a signature decagonal case and a set of assertive volumes.
Its ten sides evoke the world of the compass: a balance between strength, precision and direction. This unique geometry gives the watch an immediately identifiable presence, while extending Voxel’s universe of travel, trajectories and horizons.
Its multi-part construction combines a case in 904L stainless steel, selected for its corrosion resistance and the quality of its polish, with a screwed caseback in grade 5 titanium. The polished independent lugs, brushed and polished bezel, polished flanks and carefully worked chamfers create a contrast between geometric precision and everyday elegance.
The dial, combining grained and sunburst finishes, offers a clear reading of time while creating variations in depth depending on the light. A domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment completes the ensemble and enhances the perception of volume.
The Meridion VX01-E watches are offered with two interchangeable strap configurations: Alcantara® strap, available in six colours, for a textile and sport-chic expression. Integrated 904L stainless steel bracelet, for a more sculptural and integrated silhouette.
These two options extend the aesthetic continuity of the case and offer two interpretations of the same design: a contemporary textile version or a more architectural steel execution.
Meridion VX01-E is powered by the Swiss automatic Newton P092 calibre, paired with the in-house Voxel complication module.
