A Mauron Musy pièce unique created in support of Watches for ELA

Mauron Musy is proud to support Watches for ELA with a pièce unique created for the auction. Its design begins with a simple idea: even in darkness, hope can appear.

T

he European Leukodystrophy Association fights a group of rare genetic diseases that damage myelin, the protective sheath surrounding nerves in the nervous system. These serious, progressive diseases particularly affect children and can impair motor, sensory, and cognitive functions.

ELA supports families affected by the diseases with information, as well as administrative, social, psychological, material, and financial assistance. It also funds research to better understand their underlying mechanisms, identify the genes responsible, and develop new therapeutic strategies. Its work combines practical support today with the pursuit of medical progress for the future.

Watches for ELA brings independent watchmakers together in support of the association. Each participating brand creates a one-of-a-kind timepiece to be auctioned, raising funds for ELA’s work in medical research and family support.

Mauron Musy was founded on a refusal to accept that an established technical problem could not be solved differently. That conviction led to nO-Ring®, the brand’s patented gasket-free sealing technology, and it continues to guide the way we develop every watch. Mauron Musy recognises the same determination in research: questioning what is known, testing new paths, and continuing to work towards solutions. Creating a pièce unique for Watches for ELA allows the brand to place its watchmaking and engineering in service of that effort.

“The dedication of ELA, of the researchers, the doctors, and the families, is a powerful source of inspiration. For this auction, we created a unique watch inspired by a light emerging from darkness. A symbol of hope.” — Christophe Musy

The watch offered by Mauron Musy is a unique version of the MU06 UniX. Its 41 mm Grade 5 titanium case incorporates the brand’s four-segment architecture and patented nO-Ring® technology, which provides water resistance without gaskets. The in-house Calibre MM02 is visible through the sapphire caseback. For Watches for ELA, this distinctly Mauron Musy construction is paired with a dial created only once.

In daylight, the dial appears as a deep blue gradient and the word Hope remains invisible. As the light fades, the Super-LumiNova-coated dial begins to glow, while Hope remains unlit, emerging in contrast at 6 o’clock in Christophe Musy’s handwriting. The darker the surroundings become, the more clearly the word stands out against the luminous surface. The dial is then lacquered and polished to achieve its final depth and finish.

This contrast between the blue dial and the light emerging through it gives the watch its meaning. Hope is not added as a decorative inscription; it is revealed by the construction of the dial itself. The piece translates Mauron Musy’s approach to watchmaking into a clear visual message for ELA.

Hope connects the two parts of ELA’s work: supporting families in their daily lives and advancing research over the long term. This unique watch was created to support both.

“Hope drives research. It gives families strength and inspires action. Hope is the belief that progress remains possible.” — Christophe Musy

The future owner will carry a word that appears only in darkness, together with a reminder that support can turn hope into action.
