In 1965, Nivada presented the Colorama as “the watch with many faces”. The idea protected by a Swiss patent was simple: a small but high-quality ladies’ watch worn with straps of different colours and clip-on bezels, to match an outfit, an occasion or a mood. Some sets even turned the watch into a pendant worn on a necklace. The sets were true jewellery boxes: six coloured bezels for the Colorama VI, stone-set bezels and a pendant for the Maharani, silk and lace for the Fiesta, and many more.

Relaunched in 2020 under Guillaume Laidet’s creative direction, Nivada Grenchen has built its return on strong historical designs. Bringing back the Colorama took more than a year of work. Proportions, colours and the feel of the bezel as it clicks into place were refined again and again, until the new Colorama matched the watch the team had in mind. It’s faithful to the spirit of the 60’s, but made to be worn every day in the coming years.

At the heart of every set is the same watch: a 17mm case in 316L stainless steel with gold-tone IP plating, only 6.75mm thick. Its flat white enamel dial carries gold-tone applied indexes and two hands, under a flat sapphire crystal.

The bezel clicks on and off in seconds. Depending on the set, the watch comes with three polished gold bezels or three enamel bezels in orange, green and white, with a raised floral pattern that brings back the spirit of the vintage pieces. Slim 8mm leather straps in up to seven colours complete the wardrobe, from classic black, brown and white to bright orange, green, red and silver.

The Collector Sets add the Golden Sun pendant, a 35mm gold-tone pendant that holds the watch on a long chain, so the Colorama can also be worn as a necklace, just as it was in the 1960s. And while the Colorama opens Nivada Grenchen’s women’s line, nothing stops men who love its style from wearing it too, on the wrist or as a pendant.

For years, many Nivada Grenchen collectors have asked the same question: how can I share my passion for vintage inspired horology with the woman in my life? The Colorama is the brand’s answer, with a twist. It’s one gift, split in two moments.

The first moment is the set itself, presented in a black box inspired by the original vintage case, with a card for a personal message. The second is the Time Capsule, a heart-shaped pendant that also holds the watch, included with every set, Classic or Collector, in its own separate box. Its hammered gold-tone surface is set with a small diamond, and it hangs on its own shorter chain, with a different link, to be worn close to the neck. Kept apart from the set, it can be set aside and offered later for an anniversary, a Valentine’s Day, or any moment worth remembering.

So every Colorama can also be worn as a necklace: close to the neck in the Time Capsule heart, included with every set, or lower on a longer chain in the Golden Sun pendant of the Collector Sets. The watch simply moves from one to the other.

Around its online launch, the Colorama is unveiled to a hand-picked selection of press and VIPs in Paris, presented at the Windup Watch Fair in New York, and shown to the specialist watch press in Zurich, London and Milano, introducing Nivada Grenchen’s first women’s collection to an international audience.

The collection is offered in 2 versions: Golden Hour, with gold bezels, and Color Pop, with enamel bezels, each in a Classic Set and a more complete Collector Set.

The Nivada Grenchen Colorama will be available from 19 November 2026 as part of the permanent collection, online on nivadagrenchenofficial.com and through the brand’s worldwide network of retailers. The Golden Hour Set and Color Pop Set are priced at USD 695, and the Golden Hour Collector Set and Color Pop Collector Set, with the Golden Sun pendant and seven straps, at USD 895. Every set comes with the Time Capsule heart pendant, in its own separate box.
