Concentrically mobile Happy Spirit

April 2004

The Happy Diamonds watch concept has offered Chopard a seemingly inexhaustible source of ideas that sets tongues wagging and eyes rolling. The latest offering – the Happy Spirit watch - underscores the brilliance of the concept.

Concentric yellow gold rings nestle against each other, gliding delicately and silently with every movement. Coiled shell-like within the case, time is both concealed and revealed as the watch performs its function in a delightfully playful manner.
The soul of the timepiece, a sparkling mobile diamond, nestles at the centre of the golden loops. Inspired by the inexhaustible protean cascade of the ‘Happy Diamonds’ concept, this new variation not only creates a unique liaison between the notion of continuous movement and the circle – the symbol of infinity – but also an imaginative timepiece.
The simplicity of the concentric structure, the purity of the lustrous gold, the duskiness and density of the black dial and the accompanying black crocodile strap, all brilliantly combine as each and every carefully conceived component reacts to enhance the others.
A watch for all occasions, or ‘born to be worn freely’ as Chopard propose, the Happy Spirit will unquestionably be the focal point of many a discussion between friends and admirers of modern timepieces.
