Taormina Film Festival 2005: Harry Winston Award to American Actress Andie MacDowell

Last week, at the beautiful Taormina Antique Theater, American actress Andie MacDowell was awarded the Taormina Arte Award for Cinematic Excellence. The official prize is a lady watch in rose gold set with exceptional diamonds. It has been especially created in a limited edition by Harry Winston, the world famous American Jeweller.

Andie MacDowell was cast for the role of Jane Porter in Hugh Hudson's Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes immediately achieving international success. The year after she starred in Sex, Lies, and Videotape by Steven Soderbergh, winner of a Golden Palm at the Cannes Film Festival and began a brilliant film career working with important Directors such as Robert Altman, Diane Keaton and Elie Chouraqui.

Before the prize giving Ceremony at the Greek Theatre, Harry Winston partner of the Festival for the third consecutive year, hosted Andie MacDowell and Joseph Fiennes together with special guests for a private cocktail at the Rare Timepieces Club located on the splendid terrace of the Timeo Hotel.


The Harry Winston Gala Dinner took place at the Panasia Club amid a beautiful setting created specially for the occasion of the presentation of Project Z2 Diver. This gents' watch is a diving chronograph resistant to 200 metres thanks to its Zalium case, a lunar alloy unique in the world of Haute Horlogerie. The jeweller had the pleasure to host American actress Andie MacDowell, British actor Joseph Fiennes and many personalities and friends of the House. All enjoyed an unique and very poetic show directed by Mr Festi in which an acrobat hung with the moon was dancing in the night while some performers were symbolizing the passing of time.
