Breguet and Lucerne Festival

June 2005

From April 2006, Montres Breguet S.A. and the celebrated Lucerne Festival are forming a truly exceptional partnership.

In keeping with Breguet’s underlying philosophy, Nicolas G. Hayek has ceaselessly sought to reaffirm Breguet’s reputation and privileged position at the heart of European culture. Its new role as main sponsor of the Lucerne Festival’s summer concert season further underscores the corporate values of product integrity and creativity that have distinguished its achievements over the centuries. What’s more, many of the company’s illustrious clients, not least Sergei Rachmaninov and Arthur Rubinstein, have ranked among the leading musical personalities of the music world. For the salute to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart planned for 2006, Breguet will sponsor the performance of his Requiem, directed by Philippe Herreweghe.

Established in 1938 and long reputed as one of the world’s leading classical music events, Lucerne Festival is staged three times a year in the architectural masterpiece designed by Jean Nouvel, the Cultural and Convention Center, with acoustics designed by Russel Johnson. Founded by the celebrated conductor Claudio Abbado and Festival director Michael Haeflinger, the Center has had its own orchestra since 2003. From its earliest days, Lucerne Festival has attracted the many of world’s finest musicians, soloists, orchestras and conductors to the shores of Lake Lucerne, to the delight of over 100,000 music lovers every year.

This prestigious association harmonizes the intrinsic elegance of watchmaking with the deep-seated emotions afforded by classical music, demonstrating that the master craftsmen who design the world’s most exclusive timepieces beat in unison with the most distinguished composers and musicians of every century.
