2nd Hublot Record in La Solitaire Afflelou Le Figaro Race

August 2005

The Hublot record of each of the four stages in the Solitaire Afflelou du Figaro rewards the skipper who has navigated the maximum of nautical miles over 24 hours. For this first stage, the Hublot Record comes to Laurent Pellecuer, on Cliptol Sport, who has completed 210 miles over 24 hours at an average speed of 8.75 knots.

Fortissimo Pietro! Pietro D'Ali on Nanni Diesel is winning the second stage of the Solitaire Afflelou Le Figaro in La Rochelle.
The Italian has crossed the arrival line at 00h21'20''. He is 50 seconds ahead of Frédéric Duthil (Brossard) and 11'16'' of Armel Le Cleach (Foncia TBS), after 2 days, 12 hours, 21 min and 20 seconds with an average of 6,10 knots. Nonetheless, equally as after the arrival of the first stage in Getxo-Bilbao, Pietro, winner of the Louis Vuitton Cup on the Class America Luna Rossa, was saying he didn’t sleep at all, was admitting having slept only 10 minutes. True or not, this is the eternal question on the Solitaire Afflelou Le Figaro when we broach the subject of sleep. “If it is true, he is very strong”, says Charles Caudrelier (Bostik) 4th, the actual tenant of the title 2004. I have myself slept quite well, even better the second night. Michel Desjoyeaux (Géant), the so called Professor of the Solitaire, admits he slept himself quite well.
