Longines Limited Edition garners US$20,000 for Harry Connick Jr.’s charities

June 2006

The first Longines Evidenza Limited Edition Harry Connick, Jr. timepiece raised US$20,000 at the conclusion of the first of five benefit performances of the recent Tony Award winning show, The Pajama Game in New York. In front of a live sold-out audience, Sotheby’s and show-lead Connick were both on stage to unveil the watch, generate excitement and hold the live auction. All proceeds from the five benefit shows will go to support The New Orleans Habitat Musicians Village, The Actor’s Fund of America and Roundabout Theatre Company’s Education Programs & Musical Theatre Fund. Proceeds from the watches will go to Musicians Village. Musicians Village was started by Connick and fellow musician Branford Marsalis shortly after Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans to help rebuild homes for displaced musicians and keep the jazz and music culture intact. The show will continue its benefit performances through June 17th, with four more exquisite timepieces being auctioned off for the four remaining shows.

“We are thrilled that the exclusive timepieces created specifically for this auction will contribute to such an important cause,” stated Linda Passaro, General Manager for Longines U.S. “It was beautiful to witness the generosity of the show goers and we were happy to be a part of a great night.”

The winning bid and new owner of the Longines Limited Edition was Joanne and Daniel C. Smith of New York, NY. Mr. and Mrs. Smith were immediately escorted upstairs to a private room where they were able to meet Connick personally and have photographs taken with the show star.

“We have friends in New Orleans and were glad to contribute to rebuilding the city and keeping the culture intact,” stated Daniel C. Smith. “We will be reminded of the important work that Harry and Musicians Village is doing each time we look at our new Longines timepiece.”

The Longines Evidenza Limited Edition timepieces have a tonneau-shaped rose gold case with case-back engraved with Harry’s signature. Other features include: chocolate brown 39.4mm/40mm dial with white sub-dials and Roman numerals, automatic movement caliber L650 and chocolate brown alligator strap. The watches have a retail value of $8,500 each and only 11 have been manufactured worldwide.
