Audemars Piguet: When two passions meet

October 2006

Actively involved in the golfing world since 1988 alongside Nick Faldo, Audemars Piguet reinforced this commitment during the year 2005 by announcing a partnership with Vijay Singh, as well as several of the finest golfers on the circuit. The Manufacture in Le Brassus has just associated its name with a promising young player, Gonzalo
Fernandez-Castaño Hernando.

On September 19th and 20th, Audemars Piguet opened its doors amid bright sunshine to its new ambassador for a tour of the Manufacture and the Museum. Endowed with a warm and passionate nature combined with contagious enthusiasm, Gonzalo admired watchmakers at work, observing their concern for details and their patience, two qualities that are crucial to the sport he practices: “Like Audemars Piguet watchmakers, I constantly pursue perfection, driven by the ultimate goal of one day
becoming the world’s best player”.

Following on from an exceptional amateur career, Gonzalo turned professional in 2003. He was named Rookie of the Year in 2005 and won the BMW Asian Open in 2006. An accomplished sportsman, he has plenty of other strings to his bow, since he chose to complete his studies and earn his MBA in June 2003 before entering the professional circuit.

After an additional visit to the Audemars Piguet (Renaud & Papi) SA workshops in Le Locle, Haute Horlogerie no longer holds any secrets for Gonzalo.
