Basketball star new face of IWC

July 2007

San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker has posed for more than just wedding pictures recently.

The newly wed husband of Desperate Housewives' actress Eva Longoria stars in the latest advertising campaign for Swiss watch brand IWC Schaffhausen.

Parker, 25, moved from France to join the Spurs in 2001, becoming the youngest starting point guard in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Since then, he has continued to break records, becoming the third player in NBA history to have won two championships by the age of 23, as well as the first European to be named MVP of the NBA tournament. For the second year in a row, Parker also participated in the NBA All-Star Game in Las Vegas.

“I am very excited to partner with IWC,” Parker said in a statement. “I appreciate the design and craftsmanship of their watches. Also, as First Ambassador to the Make A Wish Foundation in France, I've come to really appreciate the charitable enterprises that companies take on. In this area, IWC stood out—its involvement in social responsibility, such as the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, which helps underprivileged youth around the world, really impressed me.”

IWC President Benoit de Clerck said in a statement that the company is pleased to count Parker as a friend of the brand.
