American Watch Association Elects New Officers, Directors

The American Watch Association on September 30, elected Ronald F. Luino (picture right), Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Seiko Corporation of America to the position of Chairman of the Board. The other officers for the 2003-2004 fiscal year are:

First Vice President - Paul Woods (Gucci)
Second Vice President - Walter Fischer (Rolex)
Treasurer - Stacie Orloff (Corum)
Secretary - Efraim Grinberg (Movado)
Immediate Past Chairman - Robert Filotei

Mr. Luino stated: "I look forward to continuing the Association's active program in
Washington on behalf of the watch industry. But we also need to expand our member services in such areas as public relations, educational seminars and the Internet.“AWA is developing an on-going program focused on issues of concern to watch companies such as watchmaker education, trends in customs import policy, compliance with state mercury laws and CITES endangered species import procedures.”We will also develop a database supported Web site that will enable our members to interact with a series of legislative and industry data banks to obtain information quickly," Mr. Luino explained.
The American Watch Association is an association of more than fifty companies organized and doing business within the United States that are engaged in the importation, manufacture, and assembly of watches, watch movements and watch products. These watch products are sold in the United States and in markets throughout the world. The great majority of the principal U.S. watch companies are members of AWA.
