Audemars Piguet: The Royal Oak Offshore T3 Chronograph

The Royal Oak Offshore T3 Chronograph

In 2003, Audemars Piguet is once again accompanying Arnold Schwarzenegger in his latest adventures. After End of Days in 1999, it is in the new film Terminator 3, Rise of the Machines that the actor wears a new interpretation of the famous Royal Oak. Named the Royal Oak Offshore T3 chronograph, it is the largest model in the Offshore line ever made by the master watchmakers of Le Brassus.

Extreme measure...ments
In 1993, Audemars Piguet created a collection dedicated to extremes: the Royal Oak Offshore. Endowed with an imposing stature, it gave the first luxury sports watch a whole new dimension, while retaining its amazing initial character: octagonal bezel, caseback and case secured by eight hexagonal screws ensuring perfect water-resistance to 10 atmospheres.
Today, the collection welcomes the new Royal Oak Offshore T3. Featuring exceptional technologies and an unexpected design, it evokes images of a film where the hero is involved in terrifying struggles.

The Royal Oak spirit
Faithful to the spirit of the collection, the Royal Oak Offshore T3 provides an especially broad stage for the tapestry-motif dial of the original Royal Oak, launched by the Manufacture Audemars Piguet over thirty years ago, to display its distinctive character in two versions: charcoal-grey or silvered. The Arabic numerals and tritium-coated hands stand out in white against this raised background.
Finally, the three counters and date aperture share the remaining space: minute-counter at 9 o'clock, small seconds at 12 o'clock, date at 3 o'clock and hour-counter at 6 o'clock. Each of them offers extreme... visibility.

For and with Arnold Schwarzenegger
Developed in close co-operation with Arnold Schwarzenegger, the Royal Oak Offshore T3 chronograph first strikes observers by its dimensions, which are in themselves extreme and innovative. This ensures excellent readability, especially at night, and also allows it to be worn not only on the skin but also over a sleeve. In addition to this generous sizing, it features special protections designed to protect the crown and push-pieces from shocks. Moreover, even its imposing stature does not make it a heavyweight, since the Royal Oak Offshore T3 is crafted in titanium, a metal chosen for certain key properties such as resistance and lightness.

Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines
This time, John Connor and the robot which protects him, Terminator, are facing T-X: a new-generation android that has adopted the physique of a beautiful and dangerous young woman, virtually invulnerable, capable of disappearing, undergoing various kinds of metamorphosis or even becoming pure energy in order to eliminate any human resistance. She has been sent to earth with a single purpose: that of annihilating the human race. The outcome of this combat and a battle against machines will determine the future of humanity.
