uilding on the success of the Aikon, Maurice Lacroix’s urban watch, the brand from the Franches Montagnes is introducing the Aikon PVD which is offered in two variants, each limited to 888 pieces.

As the name suggests, the case of each model is executed in PVD, exhibiting a bewitching metallic sheen in an array of light conditions. Furthermore, each dial is endowed with a Clous de Paris motif. These new models uphold the attributes synonymous with the popular urban watch, while simultaneously delivering a new contemporary look.

In 2016, within the confines of the Maurice Lacroix Manufacture, the creative team applied the finishing touches to a new model. Inspired by the Calypso, a hugely popular timepiece during the 1990s, the team began brainstorming, eager to find a suitable name for their important new model. Eventually, ‘Aikon’ was chosen, a brand name that has since become a byword for urban luxury.

The collection has proved a huge success for the luxury marque and the number of references has grown to encompass mechanical watches, offered in an array of sizes, colours and materials. Moreover, Maurice Lacroix has released models featuring a variety of complications as well as skeleton options. Underpinning the continuous evolution of the Aikon is Maurice Lacroix’s unwavering quest to ‘be inventive’, a mindset that pervades all areas of the firm.

Upholding this creative spirit, Maurice Lacroix announces two new variants, each dressed in a suit of stylish, glossy hues. One version, measuring 39mm in diameter, is presented in midnight blue, while the other is housed in a 42mm case executed in gunmetal grey. Both timepieces feature a colour-coordinated fumé dial adorned with a Clous de Paris motif. The dial tone is lighter at the centre and assumes a darker shade near the periphery of the display. The Aikon PVD succinctly imparts the essentials of time, namely, hours, minutes and seconds, making it ideal for those wearers who appreciate simplicity.

An exhibition caseback affords sight of the automatic ML115 calibre, embellished with perlage and colimaçon. The watch is presented on a matching M-branded rubber strap. Consistent with all Aikon models, the Aikon PVD is equipped with the Maurice Lacroix Easy Strap Exchange system, providing a simple means of switching one strap for another without the need for tools.

In some respects, both versions of the Aikon PVD look very different from their siblings. However, in common with all Aikon models, they deliver Swiss quality, precision, wearer comfort and high perceived value, attributes that have led to the collection’s extraordinary success. The story of the Aikon continues, perpetuated by extraordinary creativity.
