Minase launches Horizon GEN DLC 25-piece limited edition

A beauty of darkness from a Japanese perspective, the new Horizon, named after the kanji ’玄,’ offers an ideal expression of its glossy black DLC finish. It combines the pure lines of the Katana (Samurai sword) with ’Sallaz’ polishing, bringing dark tones with undeniable class to the timepiece.

inase launches a new limited series of 25 pieces: Horizon GEN DLC. In Japanese, GEN is spelled with the kanji character “玄”, which offers several meanings such as depth, darkness, mystery or the color black. These terms perfectly describe the new limited series, a Horizon clad in deep, glossy black DLC (Diamond like Carbon), alternating between brushed and polished areas.

Minase has chosen the Horizon model as the ideal expression of this DLC finish. Inspired by the watch’s similarity to the horizon line stretching over the sea and designed with pure, simple lines. The design of its sides influenced by a Japanese sword, the Horizon watch combines the calm of the ocean with the strength of the Katana (the Samurai’s sword). Case and bracelet appear on a single plane. What is more, the anti-reflective sapphire crystal has been cut and polished to perfectly follow the curve of the watch. The result is a timepiece that fits perfectly on the wrist.

The case, crown, indexes and buckle are DLC-coated. This treatment enhances the hardness of 316L steel by depositing fine layers on its various components. In addition to its attractive and mysterious appearance, this coating is distinguished by its durability and high resistance to corrosion and wear. DLC treatment offers a great resistance to scratches. The Horizon GEN DLC watch offers resistance of HV2346.3, much more than steel or PVD. Combined with the “Sallaz” surface treatment, the polished areas shine in dark tones, bringing undeniable class to the timepiece.

The Horizon GEN DLC watch is available on a black rubber strap with folding clasp. As with all MINASE watches, it is equipped with a Swiss ETA 2892-2 movement customised for the brand. The polyhedral crown bears the brand’s logo, a drillhead that pays homage to the origins of the parent company, Kyowa, a supplier of high-end components active in the global watchmaking industry since 1963.
