The first encounter between Toyo Ito and Pierre-Alexis Dumas, Artistic Director of Hermès, took place late in 2010 at the second edition of the Prix Emile Hermès 2011 (the design prize awarded by the Hermès corporate foundation).

The similarities between their approach that is respectful both of the environment and of traditional skills, led them to jointly embark upon this architectural project within which Hermès will present its new watch creations.
