amed after Ogma, the mythological Irish god of eloquence and learning who is said to have invented the Ogham alphabet, the timepiece draws deeply from Ireland’s cultural heritage. Engravings in Ogham, the earliest form of written Irish, appear on the crown and within the movement.
At the heart of the Ogma is a completely new in-house calibre that reflects over two decades of horological refinement. Every component is hand-finished by Stephen himself, from the polished steelwork to the delicate anglage, ensuring that the mechanics achieve both technical precision and aesthetic beauty. The movement delivers a 90-hour power reserve, a free sprung balance with Breguet overcoil, and McGonigle’s signature dial-side balance bridge.
The German silver barrel bridge carries a specially commissioned engraving of Ogma, designed by artist Frances McGonigle, which gives the mechanism a narrative richness that resonates with the watch’s mythological namesake. At 39.3mm, the Ogma is the smallest McGonigle to date and the most contemporary in design. The initial series of 20 pieces in tantalum is sold out (sight unseen) but the second series, in rose gold, also limited to 20 pieces, is still available.
