Rado Anatom Skeleton - Beauty is more than skin deep

The Rado Anatom might be named for the way its sculpted form sinuously follows the outer contours of the wrist, and, after more than 40 years, it’s undoubtedly become a watchword for comfort. But, for 2026, the new Anatom Skeleton takes the range in a dramatic new direction, moving beyond surface beauty with a skeletonised interpretation that showcases its inner workings.

R

ado’s Anatom goes fully anatomical. The unrestricted view of the Rado R808 calibre automatic movement’s miniature components transforms the watch from an ergonomic style icon into a mechanical metaphor for the full complexity of the human body.

If the watch’s shape has always subtly reflected skin and musculature, now its newly visible cogs and springs, plates and bridges become a metaphor for the organs and blood vessels, bones and ligaments that make the body function. It’s beating heart on display and it certainly feels alive. With a single glance, its beating heart is on show. And a longer look at its perfect balance of mechanical components, all moving in unison, elevates it from being a beautifully shaped accessory into a living, breathing partner for life.

This new approach to transparency retains the range’s iconic appeal while introducing astonishing new depths and layers of discoverable details. No longer hidden away, its technical finesse is confidently celebrated, and the result feels imbued with personality and emotion, with the wearer intimately connected to the intricacy of their timepiece like never before.

With this spirit of openness, the Anatom Skeleton brings the range squarely into the 21st century, a world where transparency and authenticity are considered among the most revered personality traits. It epitomises an attitude to life that says, instead of masking the features that make you who you are, own them. This is Swiss watchmaking in the era of self-worth.

Despite this powerful transition, the piece has not forgotten either its roots or design credentials. This example is presented in a futuristic matt plasma aesthetic – a gorgeous grey that rocks a luxurious, almost pearlescent appearance. Its high-tech ceramic bezel matches the crown and the clasp cover, and these elements all complement a velvety grey strap in a special rubber that’s flexible, odourless and resistant to wear and tear, UV light and a range of acids and solvents. Touches of yellow gold feature judiciously across the design, adding subtle luxury.

Through a cylindrical sapphire crystal, with grey metallisation around the edges, the view of the movement is framed by a suspended white minute track featuring cast Super-Luminova® blocks as indices. But in truth, all eyes are immediately drawn to the skeletonised movement, where the colour and finish of each individual component have been carefully considered: good looks are matched by inner beauty.

Anthracite-coated and yellow gold-coloured cogs and wheels, nickel- and ruthenium-coloured plates and specially designed, yellow gold-coloured skeletonised and faceted hands, filled with Super-Luminova®, create a layered effect, like a three-dimensional maze.

Extra detailing – like vertical-brushed finishing on the dial, horizontal-brushed plates and bevelled edges on the crystal – contributes to the perception of depth. In this elaborate domain, telling the time becomes a captivating, animated adventure, yet somehow the watch retains a cool elegance that’s beautifully understated.

The Anatom Skeleton represents Rado’s latest foray into the ‘Art of Skeletonisation’, following other watches throughout the entire range that have introduced skeletonised movements. As a symbol of everything that Rado, the Master of Materials, stands for today, the timepiece effortlessly encapsulates the brand’s watchmaking heritage, innovative spirit and modern mindset. And that all spells a beautifully bright future.
