Bulgari and the Ergon family

October 2004

Ergonimically-shaped (from the Greek ergon = work + economics) ergo the name Ergon!

Although Bulgari has been producing watches since the 1940s, it wasn’t until the onset of the 1970s that the brand made its debut in the fine watchmaking sector.
Bulgari Time was founded in Neuchâtel a few years later and by the mid-90s the brand was carrying out a strategy of selective distribution through the most prestigious retailers.
With the acquisition of Gérald Genta and Daniel Roth from The Hour Glass, the Group moved into the high-end of watchmaking using its own manufacturing facilities.
Bulgari’s watches all have their own style characteristics and the first of its ‘classics’ was the Bulgari-Bulgari which was inspired by the double engraving of the brand name on the bezel. Since then there have been several eye-catching pieces such as the Diagono and the Rettangolo and the brand has ventured even further into the Grandes Complications with its Bulgari-Bulgari Tourbillon, the Anfiteatro Tourbillon and the Minute Repeater.

Ergon
The latest creation from Bulgari is the Ergon. Following the brands custom of creating original timepieces, the Ergon is a unique looking watch that successfully combines an unconventional style with elegance and avant-garde design. The ergonomically arched shape of the case forms a single unit with the integrated bracelet and is enhanced by several aesthetic details such as the diamond-processed hour indices and the juxtaposition of the satin-finished and polished surfaces of the stainless steel models and the finely worked anthracite dial for the white gold models.
The Ergon models are available in different variations and in three sizes for men and women – 30, 35 and 40 mm. There is also a diamond-set version.
