BASELWORLD 2005 expands its online services

December 2004

The World Watch and Jewellery Show is expanding its online services for visitors and exhibitors in the lead up to BASELWORLD 2005 (31 March – 7 April 2005).
In collaboration with BTI Event Solutions, BASELWORLD is offering, for the first time, an online portal for hotel reservations. Furthermore, information on the World Watch and Jewellery Show is now available in eleven languages.

With a view to BASELWORLD 2005 (31.3. – 7.4.2005), the Show Management is continuing to optimise its online services.

www.baselworld.com in eleven languages

The BASELWORLD internet site www.baselworld.com now offers a choice of no fewer than eleven languages. Information on the World Watch and Jewellery Show is not only available in English, but also in Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish. This wide choice of languages is a ‘first’ for online communication in the watch and jewellery industry.

Such extensive coverage ensures that the internet presence of BASELWORLD truly reflects the world-wide importance of this event, which - year in, year out - attracts more than 85,000 visitors from every continent and from over 100 countries.

Partnership with BTI Event Solution, the international experts in hotel reservations

An online reservation system is now in place for hotel bookings. By logging into www.baselworld.com,; visitors are able to locate accommodation both in Switzerland and in hotels just over the border in France and Germany. This “real-time†booking service enables visitors to see, online, what room categories are available in the listed hotels.

This online platform is operated by BTI Event Solutions.
BTI (Business Travel International) is one of the world’s leading international firms involved in organising and handling business travel.

BASELWORLD considers its partnership with BTI Event Solutions to be the ideal way of optimising hotel reservations and bookings in advance of the World Watch and Jewellery Show. This new partnership expands the package of services offered to visitors and makes a visit to the Show easier and more efficient.

“In providing this new online service, we are fulfilling a request frequently expressed by our exhibitors and visitors from around the world†, says Sylvie Ritter, Show Manager of BASELWORLD. It is estimated that around 800,000 overnights stays are reserved in conjunction with the World Watch and Jewellery Show.

Apart from this online reservation facility, BASELWORLD will also be running its own shuttle buses to transport visitors in comfort between their hotels and Exhibition Square.
