Zenith sponsors celebrity golf tournament

September 2007

Zenith Swiss Watch Manufacture lent its support last week to the John Starks Foundation for children, serving as a sponsor of a celebrity golf tournament benefiting the foundation.

The 12th Annual John Starks Celebrity Classic opened with a private celebrity VIP reception on Sept. 9 in New York City, attended by such celebrities as retired baseball player Darryl Strawberry, retired football players O.J. Anderson and Howard Cross, and sports analysts Otis Livingston and Ray Lucas, among others.

The golf tournament took place the next day at the Old Oaks Country Club in Purchase, N.Y.

Autographed sports memorabilia, trips and a Zenith “Defy Classic Open” watch were among the items featured in a live auction that raised money for educational scholarships.

Established in 1994 by former New York Knicks star John Starks, the John Starks Foundation's mission is to provide financial assistance to programs and organizations that work to further the educational, recreational and social development of children and their families.

“We are proud to lend our support to John Starks and the John Starks Foundation,” Zenith North America President Paul Ziff said in a statement. “We believe in the importance of education and applaud the foundation for their commitment and dedication in allowing those less fortunate the opportunity to experience college and the benefits of earning a degree.”
