Switzerland-based fine-jewelry company Avakian has opened its first U.S. retail location at the Beverly Wilshire Four Seasons Hotel.

The brand specializes in colored-diamond jewelry with intricate detail, and precious-stone pieces with movement, all set in 18-karat gold.

Avakian currently counts four other retail locations worldwide, with multi-brand Piantelli stores in London and Geneva.

Though Avakian primarily features women's jewelry, the company's boutiques also offer gold and diamond accessories for men. Watch brands Jaquet Droz and deLaCour are stocked in Avakian boutiques, and the brand has also introduced a limited-edition men's timepiece designed by Haig Avakian, son of head designer and founder Edmond Avakian.

The Beverly Hills, Calif., store takes design cues from a “Rome-based studio.” The 1,000-square-foot oval-shaped boutique features cherry wood and Italian limestone accents.

The company hopes to open additional U.S. stores in Aspen, Colo., Las Vegas, New York, Miami and Chicago in the near future.
