Longines announces its commitment as the Official Timekeeper and Sponsor of the 2009 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Val d'IsÈre (France) taking place form 2nd to 15th February 2009. As a previous official partner for the FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup, Longines thus confirms its membership of the “inner circle” of Alpine sport.

At this year's World Championships Longines' Ambassador Aksel Lund Svindal will defend his title as the World Champion in Downhill and Giant Slalom. After his dramatic fall in Beaver Creek the Norwegian skier has given a great comeback by already reaching his aim for the season: “to be one of the best skiers in the world again”. He has proven to have nerves of steel by beating his opponents exactly one year after his accident at the same place.
