For the first time, Longines was the Title Partner, Official Timekeeper and Official Watch of the Longines CSI Basel, held at the St. Jakobshalle from 9 to 12 January 2014.
In recent years, this event has become one of the world’s best indoor competitions. This new partnership, highly representative of Longines’ very own values, reaffirms the Swiss watch brand’s commitment to equestrian sports. The official Longines CSI Basel 2014 watch was a steel chronograph from the Conquest Classic collection. This sporty watch, 41 mm in diameter, is driven by an exclusive column wheel calibre and features a black dial.
The weekend was marked by the victory of Rolf-Göran Bengtsson on Casall ASK in the Longines Grand Prix, a competition held in two rounds on 12 January 2014. Amidst the general excitement, Rolf-Göran Bengtsson was presented with an elegant Longines watch by Mr. Walter von Känel, President of Longines.
The Swiss watch company and the equestrian world share a long history. Longines’ passion for equestrian sports began in 1878 with the production of a chronograph engraved with a jockey and his horse. In 1912, Longines partnered an international show jumping competition for the first time. Today, the brand is also a partner of flat racing and endurance competitions.
