Obaku, a stylish new ladies edition

November 2015

The Scandinavian brand has announced its new, sophisticated ladies watch series. Released at the Hong Kong Watch Fair in September 2015 was also a new signature watch for the collection, featuring minimalist style and a clean look.

The brand known for blending traditional Danish functionalism with Zen philosophy has released its latest collections, designed by Danish natives Christian Mikkelsen and Lau Liengård Ruge.

Obaku, a stylish new ladies edition

Leading the line is the new signature watch for the ladies collection, the Obaku V185 timepiece. This new watch comes in a 38mm case with a 12mm mesh strap, creating a beautiful and feminine contrast between the look and the feel of the watch. Christian Mikkelsen served as Chief Designer for the watch, ensuring attention to the smallest details:

“With a clean, minimalist design every detail is important. Nothing can be left to coincidence as even the slightest flaw will stand out on a clean background”.

The stylish design comes in either a gold, rose gold or steel case with matching straps and dials. Powered by a Japanese quartz movement, the watch also comes in at a very attractive price point, under $200.

In response to increasing global demand for the brand’s creations, seven other sister models were added to the Obaku ladies collection, in addition to this signature line. The collection consists of elegant, clean and contemporary designs, which cover a breadth of tastes and budgets.

Among them is the new link bracelet watch, which presents itself both as a watch and a piece of jewellery. The high quality H-shaped linked bracelet comfortably hugs a 28mm case, which is beautifully curved with a flat back case. Fitting both for more formal and casual events, the watch is available in an impressive selection of colors.

Then there is the new 37mm model, made for the sophisticated woman who appreciates the look and feel of a luxury watch. Its mother of pearl dial and Swarovski elements index numbers create a nice balance between elegance and beauty. The watch is, according to designer Christian Mikkelsen, a perfect choice for the classy, contemporary woman:

“For me this watch is very much about the features of a woman, you have the beautifully rounded case symbolizing feminine curves, with a great connection to the mother of pearl dial that symbolizes the beauty within.”

This broadened ladies collection by Obaku - which showcases the brand’s expertise in fusing minimalist design with a luxury feel - is sure to help strengthen the brand’s standing in their market segment come 2016.
