The new watch brand has just released its first collection in partnership with British paper artist Sarah Denis. The result is a delicately simple – and simply affordable - ladies’ timepiece that creates art on the wrist.

The idea behind new brand Dial Watches is to bring together modern art and classic watch making. The company has kicked off its venture by partnering with artists, providing them with a blank canvas – in this case a watch dial - and the chance to capture a unique moment of artistic inspiration.

Having just joined forces with British paper artist Sarah Denis, the brand has brought traditional paper cutting with collage to the world of watchmaking. The idea is simple: to create “art on the wrist”. But the execution is actually a bit more complicated than that. Each piece is individually hand-cut using a craft knife to reveal the exquisite, delicate details within the illustration.

Sarah’s type of art is focused on the beauty of nature as we might know it from fairy tales, telling a whimsical story through the medium of paper. Her designs are the perfect match for Dial Watches, which aim to remind us to set our imaginations free.

So far, the collaboration has produced just one exclusive design, featuring either a gold or rose gold outer case. Each features Sarah’s delicate handmade butterflies and woodland across the navy faces of each watch, with the simple cream dial complimenting the feminine design.

And similar to a butterfly in nature, the watch can also undergo a metamorphosis of sorts; you can switch up the style from a navy blue to a cream colour variant, thanks to the two handmade leather straps which come included in the box set.

The use of a Miyota quartz movement ensures the low price point of this collection, staring at a very reasonable $175. Not a bad price at all for a bit of poetic storytelling on the wrist through the use of only paper. The Dial Watches are already available online, just in time for spring, too.
