AUDEMARS PIGUET ORGANISES A ROYAL OAK EXHIBITION IN LAUSANNE

Tuesday April 30th to Thursday May 2nd at the Hôtel Beau-Rivage, Lausanne

To mark the 30th anniversary of the Royal Oak, the legendary watch by Audemars Piguet, an exhibition will be held at the Hôtel Beau-Rivage Palace, Avenue GÉnÉral Guisan in Lausanne, from Tuesday April 30th to Thursday May 2nd 2002.

This exhibition, open to the public from 2pm to 6pm, is a world première and a unique opportunity for all watch connoisseurs and collectors to examine and admire the career of an innovative, daring and appealing watch that has left its indelible octagonal imprint on the history of watchmaking.

The Royal Oak Concept and Royal Oak City of Sails 2003 watches, along with the Royal Oak... La Mer line of jewellery created by Alberto Repossi for Audemars Piguet, were presented in an exclusive first viewing at the SIHH in Geneva last week, and will doubtless be key highlights of this travelling exhibition. After Lausanne, it will move on to Zurich, Milan, Hamburg, Amsterdam, Paris, Moscow and Rome as well as the main cities of Asia and the United States.

In 1972, Audemars Piguet surprised and enthused the watchmaking world by launching the first high-end steel watch with its distinctive bezel featuring eight visible screws, thereby combining the three fundamental values of the Manufacture: tradition, excellence and innovation. Over the past thirty years, Audemars Piguet has regularly created variations on the theme of this sports watch, offering a number of movements ranging from the simplest to the most sophisticated.
