Audemars Piguet’s 150th anniversary tourbillon

November 2001

In tribute to Jules Audemars, one of the two founders of the Manufacture born in 1851, Audemars Piguet has created a tourbillon watch with simple calendar and power-reserve indicator. Elegantly clad in pink gold and platinum, its round case houses treasures of perfection, while its caseback discreetly carries the Audemars family's coat-of-arms.

Playing with light and materials
A satin-brushed dial, luminescent hands and hour-markers, a visible tourbillon revealed through an opening in the dial: by opting for a sporting style, the Jules Audemars 150th anniversary model radiates a resolutely modern personality. This character is reinforced by the silvered background of the small symmetrical power-reserve and calendar subdials, as well as a subtle play on colours: the dial of the pink gold version is silvered and satin-brushed, while that of the platinum model is satin-brushed blue.
The caseback is embellished with the Audemars family's coat-of-arms, along with a ribbon carrying the wording “150 ans Jules Audemars”.

Technical accomplishments for an exceptional calibre
Calibre 2875 is equipped with a tourbillon, a simple calendar, a power-reserve indicator and an automatic winding system.
Invented to compensate for the detrimental effects of gravity on the regularity of rate of a timekeeper, the tourbillon revolves around its own axis once a minute.
The simple calendar shows the date on a subdial at 3 o'clock. Finally, an automatic winding system with a hammer in iridium platinum winds the mainspring by moving backwards and forwards. It is monitored by the power-reserve indicator which shows the state of tension of the mainspring, bearing in mind that Calibre 2875 has an autonomy of 54 hours.

The round case of the Jules Audemars 150th anniversary watch houses a wealth of ingenuity: a calibre endowed with an automatic winding system and a power-reserve indicator. These accomplishments are matched by contemporary styling featuring an audacity reminiscent of the spirit of the individual who inspired the collection: Jules-Louis Audemars.
