Jules Audemars gem-set watch by Audemars Piguet

November 2001

Understated, harmonious lines, a round case and a sophisticated movement: the new ladies gem-set watch in the Jules Audemars collection merges perfection with the elegance of genuine simplicity. Exquisitely underlining its graceful silhouette, it now comes dressed in diamonds.
It was in tribute to one of the two founders of the Manufacture, Jules-Louis Audemars (1851-1918), a pioneer of haute horlogerie, that the collection bearing his name was created. It encompasses some extremely beautiful collections of men's and ladies models, some of which have become references in their field. Each celebrates the creative audacity of the master-watchmakers in Le Brassus.

The perfection of gem-setting
The bezel of the Jules Audemars model is adorned with fifty-six invisibly set brilliants measuring 1.20 millimetres in diameter.
Because haute horlogerie and haute joaillerie are inextricably entwined, the Manufacture is particularly concerned with the quality of the diamonds it uses. According to the International Colour Grading Scale, classifying colours into twenty distinct categories, the diamonds chosen by Audemars Piguet belong only to the four upper categories With regard to purity, the gems selected belong to the two top levels (FI or IF) of a twelve-tiered classification.
Finally, each gem-set watch is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity for its precious stones.

The prestige of classicism
Born in the inner sanctum of the Manufacture workshops, Calibre 3090 needed not only to offer exceptional reliability and precision, but to inaugurate the new aesthetic codes of the collection. The dial of this watch is therefore embellished with the “Côtes de Genève” decorative pattern. Traditionally reserved for the surfaces of movement parts and casebacks of top-of-the-range watches, this airy, prestigious decoration is set off to great advantage here, serving as a delicate reminder of the classicism of the watch.

Endowed with pure, remarkably understated lines that are enhanced by precious stones, the new Jules Audemars gem-set ladies watch reveals the twin passions of the Manufacture: the perfection of mechanical movements and the excellence of aesthetic research.
