he Maison announces its sponsorship of the Prix Solo Art Genève-Piaget. The Prix Solo honours the most outstanding presentation among the galleries with solo booths at Art Genève (29 January-1 February). It is decided by a jury that rewards the artistic merit and curation of each solo show.
This year, three major art world representatives are tasked with selecting the prize winner from among Art Genève galleries: Kathrin Bentel, Director of Fri-Art, Fribourg; Céline Poulin, Director of Frac Ile-de-France; and Nicolas Trembley, Exhibition Curator and Curator of the Syz Collection.
One work presented at the winning stand will be acquired and enter the MAMCO Geneva collection. In this way, Piaget and Art Genève make a significant contribution to the development of the City of Geneva’s art collections.
Piaget has a longstanding tradition of supporting art, artists and artisans. This tradition began in the 1960s with Yves Piaget, who established collaborations with the greatest contemporary artists of the era, including Salvador Dali, Arman, Hans Erni and Alberto Rizzo.
The Maison regularly held exhibitions in its Salon Piaget on Rue du Rhône in Geneva, and has always found inspiration in the beauty, flair and virtuosity of theart scene. In recent years, this strong relationship with art continued through the commissioning of works by Pierre & Gilles and the Verhoeven Twins.
These initiatives make resonate Piaget’s strong belief that hand-crafted mastery ignites artistry, and that supporting creativity in all its forms – whether that of an artist or an artisan – leads to the crafting of a more positive society.
Within the Art Genève exhibition, the Piaget space, decorated by the French designer Jérémy Pradier-Jeauneau, invites visitors to discover the link between Piaget and art. It will host the Solo Art Genève-Piaget Prize ceremony.
The scenographer has conceived the space as a work of art in its own right, where time materialises into volumes and is based on a curation of exceptional pieces of contemporary Collectible Design.
This space highlights Andy Warhol’s relationship with Piaget through a small- scale exhibition. In recent years, the Maison has established a strong partnership with the Andy Warhol Foundation for Visual Arts in order to pay tribute to the pop-art pioneer. This partnership has given rise to special Piaget Andy Warhol editions and, more recently the Andy Warhol “Collage” watch adorned with a marquetry dial of ornamental stone inspired from one of Warhol’s self-portraits.
Visitors will also have the pleasure of discovering in this space a work by the artist Gregor Hildebrandt. The German artist explores music, cinema, and underground cultures through his paintings, sculptures, and installations. Gregor Hildebrandt was inspired by the discovery of a Piaget Andy Warhol watch and decided to create a work using audio magnetic tapes of David Bowie’s song «Andy Warhol».
He experiments with colours and textures to create the tiger’s eye motif and arrive at the final work ”und wieder Augen wie Bernstein” (2025). He thus expresses his admiration for these two iconic artists. Finally, during the fair, Piaget will present a series of related events, including an Art Talk by T le Magazine du Temps, with the support of Piaget on the theme: «Color: Between artistic emotion and symbolic language. Chromatic harmonies are a central topic in both art and craftsmanship. But how are they composed? How can aesthetic criteria be reconciled with the symbolic language of hues?»
