Mido Multifort Power Reserve

Mido draws its inspiration for the Multifort collection from the architecture of the famous Sydney Harbour Bridge. The Swiss brand introduces the Multifort Power Reserve in steel, whose anthracite colour contrasts with green Super-LumiNova®. Featuring a 42 mm diameter, the model is driven by the Caliber 80, giving it a power reserve of up to 80 hours.

T

he sporty yet urban design of the Multifort Power Reserve readily reveals its strong character and extraordinary endurance. Like a beacon or an athlete trained to perfection, this function indicates the remaining energy available. Featuring a 42 mm diameter, the model is driven by the Caliber 80, giving it a power reserve of up to 80 hours.

Mido Multifort Power Reserve

Mido draws its inspiration for the Multifort collection from the architecture of the famous Sydney Harbour Bridge. The Multifort and the Harbour Bridge are actually contemporaries, as both were created in the 1930s. Offering the perfect combination of style and substance, function and aesthetics, Mido celebrates this ultra-resistant, enduring monument with its instantly recognisable design features.

The Multifort’s characteristic Geneva stripes on the dial recall the suspension cables on the Bridge. But the robustness and exceptional longevity of this collection, which has been in production since 1934, also define the Multifort as a creation that has stood the test of time.

A PVD treatment cloaks the Multifort Power Reserve in an intense shade of anthracite. Green Super-LumiNova® brings touches of colour to the dark backdrop of the dial. Applied to the hour and minute hands, the indexes and the power-reserve indicator, this substance ensures that they remain visible, even in total darkness. During the daytime, the light plays across the surfaces of the hour and minute hands and the indexes worked on three sides.

For the first time, Mido displays the exceptional autonomy of the Caliber 80 – almost twice that of an ordinary movement – on the dial of the Multifort. An aperture indicates the date at 3 o’clock, delivering a highly practical, everyday function. The domed sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective treatment on both sides affords a completely clear view of the dial and adds a touch of sophistication.

So when will it be time to stop? Maybe in 80 hours, as indicated by the dial’s power-reserve display at 9 o’clock. For when the movement is fully wound, the Caliber 80’s power reserve is only depleted once it has been at rest for 80 hours. And since performance also calls for elegance, the Multifort Power Reserve has a finely decorated movement: to echo the finishes adorning the dial, the sapphire crystal case back reveals the Geneva stripes that embellish the oscillating weight.

The case and bracelet of the Multifort Power Reserve are made from robust stainless steel that is particularly hard-wearing given its resistance to corrosion. The material of the case and the bracelet’s outer links have been satin-finished, while the central links have been polished to add visual depth.

Mido is also presenting two other Multifort Power Reserve models, with a red seconds hand and a red power-reserve display. With its urban and sporty design, the new Multifort Power Reserve sets the pace.
