enezianico unveils its first Italian-made movement, the V5000 – an achievement resulting from over two years of development, driven by a clear technical vision and a partnership with some of Italy’s finest mechanical talents.
Its design reinterprets the codes of classical watchmaking through a new lens of balance, proportion, and function, featuring bridges machined from solid metal, refined finishes, and an unprecedented level of accuracy for the brand. This project marks a transformative evolution, elevating the brand exponentially while embodying a firm commitment to championing Italian technical excellence on the global stage.
The V5000 was born from continuous dialogue with the growing Venezianico community, years of listening and engagement transformed wishes and expectations into a clear vision of what the “ideal calibre” should be.
“The dream of creating an Italian-made movement made us look further, questioning which of our timepieces could truly honour this new calibre. The answer was none, so we had to create one,” says Alberto Morelli, CEO of the San Donà di Piave-based company.
A pivotal encounter with Fausto Berizzi, technical director of OISA and a storied figure in Italian watchmaking, with past roles at Frédéric Piguet, Lemania, and Vaucher Manufacture, proved invaluable. His experience with some of Switzerland’s top manufactures was instrumental in the development of the V5000.
“From day one, our dream was to create a timepiece that was genuinely ours, inside and out. A movement designed by us, made in Italy, and a watch that would fully express it. It seemed like an unreachable goal. We often wondered if it would ever happen. In Fausto Berizzi, we found not only a seasoned expert but someone who fully shared our vision and immediately connected with Andrea Menegazzo, Head of Product Design and Development. Together, we gave life to the V5000, our first Italian-designed, registered, and built calibre (design and model no. 402025000000420),” continues Alberto Morelli.
Key features of the first mechanical movement signed by Venezianico are immediately striking: a four-bridge architecture, a slim profile, and a double-supported balance bridge designed to enhance stability and timekeeping consistency.
The V5000 is a manually wound movement that combines high-level technical performance with refined aesthetics: it boasts 25,200 vibrations/hour (3.5 Hz) and a power reserve of over 60 hours and chronometric precision of ±3 seconds per day – results achieved through advanced engineering choices and meticulous construction.
Yet not everything is visible at first glance: the split gear train separates the seconds from the hours and minutes, improving accuracy and reducing internal interference. Subtler details, such as micrometric axial play adjustment and a specially selected escapement for reliability, speak to the care invested in every design decision.
Manufactured by Atokalpa in a copper-beryllium alloy, the V5000’s balance wheel is regulated using four peripheral masselottes – small weights that allow for inertia adjustments without altering the active hairspring length. Compared to traditional balance wheels with regulator pins, this system enables more precise and stable adjustment over time, reducing the effects of shocks or position changes on timekeeping. This type of balance is a hallmark of haute horlogerie, where long-term performance is paramount.
The gear train is divided into two separate branches, one dedicated to the seconds, the other to the hours and minutes. This mechanical separation reduces interference between the gear trains, ensuring that the continuous movement of the seconds hand doesn’t compromise the main system’s consistency. The result: more stable and reliable accuracy over time.
The V5000 incorporates the KIF Elastor system, which protects the balance staff from shocks and sudden impacts. At its core is a star-shaped helical spring surrounding the jewel setting, enabling controlled micro-movements. Upon impact, the spring slightly deforms to absorb energy and return the balance to its optimal position.
With a careful balance of efficiency and practicality, the V5000 offers over 60 hours of power reserve, well above the average for automatic movements. This allows the watch to maintain consistent, accurate timekeeping even after days of inactivity, avoiding unnecessary winding or adjustment. It’s a reserve designed to adapt to different lifestyles, daily wear or part of a rotation, ensuring reliability and ease of use.
The V5000’s finishing strikes a balance between technical discipline and artisanal care, designed to highlight the movement’s architecture without excess. All bridges are decorated with radial Côtes de Genève, dynamic light-catching patterns executed with exacting precision. The double-supported balance bridge, due to its technical role, features horizontal satin finishing to emphasise its structural importance. On the mainplate, near the balance wheel, micro-perlage is hand-applied to add depth to this sensitive area. Finally, all bridges feature polished anglage to elegantly define edges and showcase the calibre’s fine finishing. Each V5000 is hand-assembled by master watchmakers in controlled environments with high-precision tools.
Redentore Utopia: the dream becomes reality, in a limited edition of 100 numbered pieces. Born from an idea that once seemed impossible to realise in Italy, the first watch to house the hand-wound mechanical movement with the V5000 calibre is the Redentore model, in an exclusive version aptly named “Utopia”.
“A timepiece that unites form, substance, and meaning. Every detail, from the mechanical heart to the hand-engraved dial, tells the story of who we are and where we’re heading. It’s a milestone, certainly. But for us, it’s only the beginning,” say brothers Alberto and Alessandro Morelli.
The Redentore Utopia features a 38mm 316L stainless steel case with a slender 8.9mm profile. Its dial is hand-engraved using guilloché technique on a rose engine lathe, with an exclusive pattern created specifically for this model by master artisan Riccardo Renzetti. The radial motif, composed of perfectly regular waves, results from a slow, mechanical, yet non-automated sequence of gestures, each guided by the artisan’s hand and eye.
To elevate this living surface, the metal is coloured via IP (Ion Plating) treatment, lending the dial a deep, vibrant hue that shifts with the light. Reflections dance along the engraving, creating a dynamic, iridescent effect that highlights every detail. In such a richly textured dial, each element must be carefully balanced. Under the anti-reflective sapphire crystal, faceted alpha hands polished to a mirror finish reflect light crisply, ensuring legibility in all conditions.
The baton-style indices are hand-applied with meticulous precision, following the dial’s curvature without breaking its rhythm. Every detail contributes to a measured and understated aesthetic, in line with the model’s essentialist philosophy.
Completing the Redentore Utopia is a handcrafted embossed leather strap made by Gian Pietro Failli in his Tuscan atelier, at the heart of Italy’s leatherwork tradition. An expression of authentic, time-honoured craftsmanship, the leather, chosen for its exceptional softness and natural fit, is treated using traditional techniques that enhance its grain and preserve its long-term value.
Redentore Utopia is not just a watch: it is the manifesto of Venezianico’s vision. A milestone that becomes a new beginning, crafted in a limited edition of only 100 numbered pieces. Dedicated to those who believe that utopia is not an illusion, but a direction.
