enezianico pays tribute to the legend of the Concorde with a chronograph limited to just 100 pieces. A one-of-a-kind timepiece housing a hand-restored Lemania 1873 NOS caliber and featuring an original titanium plate taken from the world’s most iconic supersonic aircraft.
Some creations do more than measure time—they tell the story of an era. The Concorde was one of them: the supersonic jet that, from 1976 to 2003, turned the ocean into a few hours of flight, breaking the sound barrier and carrying passengers from Paris to New York in just three and a half hours. A symbol of an age and a collective imagination that continues to fascinate, the Concorde remains the supersonic icon of the 20th century, thanks to its futuristic design and performance that reached Mach 2.04, or 2,179 km/h, at a cruising altitude of 17,000 meters.
It is to this legend that the Morelli brothers dedicate the new Bucintoro 1976, the second chapter in the Legacy of Timeseries, which transforms humanity’s historic milestones into horological creations that blend mechanics, design, and cultural memory. After the Bucintoro 1969, inspired by the conquest of space and the Apollo missions, this new model celebrates another epochal step: the beginning of regular transatlantic flights at Mach 2, an achievement that redefined the very concept of time and distance.
At the core of the project lies the hand-wound Lemania 1873 NOS chronograph caliber, a symbol of Swiss watchmaking excellence. Retrieved in 100 units from private European collections, it was brought back to life after 12 months of research and restoration by Venezianico’smaster watchmaker Daniele Zorzetto.
This endeavor goes beyond technique—it embodies Venezianico’s most authentic spirit: preserving and reviving historic mechanics through a blend of engineering mastery and artisanal sensitivity. The restoration involved complex interventions: the upper bridge, missing in several movements, was rebuilt from scratch after a lengthy process of study and experimentation. The original 1970s decorations were reproduced using traditional finishing and inking techniques, restoring each movement’s period identity and full mechanical authenticity.
Underscoring the uniqueness of this edition is the titanium plate set on the case side, cut from an original Concorde engine blade, supplied by Concorde Collectables and certified from lots 3464 and 3335—the very last available.
This titanium-nickel alloy has flown thousands of supersonic hours across the Atlantic, bearing direct witness to an unrepeatable era. Reworked with artisanal care, the plate is engraved in gold with the progressive number of the limited edition, turning each piece into a bridge between two heritages: watchmaking, with the restored Lemania caliber, and aeronautics, with an authentic fragment of the Concorde.
The ivory dial with three avio-blue counters evokes the analog instruments of the Concorde cockpit and its inaugural year of supersonic flight, 1976. The 42 mm 316L steel case features a 1.6 mm-thick domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, enhancing legibility while adding a vintage character.
Gold-colored baton indexes and hour and minute hands boast inserts treated with white Super-LumiNova® for visibility in all light conditions. The central chronograph seconds hand, also in gold, serves as the tool to measure speed, recalling the vital role time played in supersonic aviation.
Emotional details abound: the internal tachymeter bezel features the three take-off phases (V1-VR-V2), while the minute counter integrates references to Mach 1 and Mach 2, symbols of breaking the sound barrier. The hour counter, marked Fuel, pays homage to the onboard instruments monitoring fuel autonomy. Indeed, the Concorde consumed around 17 liters of fuel per 100 passengers every 100 km—a figure that, not by chance, matches the 100 limited editions of the Bucintoro 1976. Completing the aesthetic are the Sansovino steel bracelet, a Venezianico signature, and an Italian-made leather strap. In terms of performance, the model guarantees water resistance up to 10 atmospheres.
Each piece is housed in a handcrafted oak case, made from the same wood as the historic Venetian briccole, symbols of the lagoon city. The avio-blue varnish recalls the uniforms of Concorde pilots and mirrors the dial’s color palette, once again sealing the bond between Venice and the legend of flight.
Just as the Bucintoro, the State galley of the Doges of Venice, celebrated the city’s union with the sea each year, so the Bucintoro 1976 celebrates an equally extraordinary union: that of time and sky, tradition and progress, craftsmanship and innovation.
Not merely a chronograph, but an authentic fragment of history: the legacy of two worlds that pushed humanity beyond its limits. With the Bucintoro 1976 and the Legacy of Time concept to which it belongs, Venezianico reaffirms its mission—to transform the memory of historic achievements into creations destined to endure forever.
