he Multifort TV Big Date S01E02 returns to captivate its audience with a new episode of the successful Mido series. Contrasting with the satin grey PVD, its subtly crafted colourful and graphic dial resembles a small screen, once again drawing the eye to the model’s distinctive TV-shaped case. Characterful, robust and ultra-precise, this special edition comes with three interchangeable bracelets and showcases the brand’s inventiveness and excellence in watchmaking expertise.
Mido unveils the second instalment of its cult series: the Multifort TV Big Date S01E02. Inspired by the golden age of television, this special edition features a dial embossed with the colour bars seen on vintage televisions. This “pixel noise”, faithfully reproduced and emblematic of an entire generation captivated by the vivid colours of the television series of the era, is highlighted by a grey border marked with recessed indexes. At 12 o’clock sits Mido’s signature big date display. This watch fully illustrates Mido’s commitment to using the finest materials for outstanding reliability. White Super-LumiNova® on the indexes and hour and minute hands ensures perfect readability, even at night. The TV-shaped case and bracelet are crafted from grey PVD-treated stainless steel reminiscent of raw metal – used for the first time in the collection – for a more monochrome look. Two additional rubber straps, one bright blue and the other bright yellow, add a splash of colour to the outfits of this TV star. Behind the scenes, the Caliber 80 keeps the show running smoothly, reliably and accurately thanks to its high-tech Nivachron™ balance spring. Season 1, episode 2: the adventure continues with this remarkable headliner, back to steal the show with its retro look.
In this episode, the staging plays with contrasts in volume and colour, tempered by touches of grey. The central motif, in relief, recalls the colour bar display seen on vintage televisions. The Mido and Multifort inscriptions are integrated into this design in a highly original way. The grey border emphasises the brightness of the colours. A distinctive feature of the collection is the recessed indexes, which are filled with white Super-LumiNova® that glows at night. Also applied to the hour and minute hands, this high-quality phosphorescent material displays essential information in the dark. The big date also makes a bold statement, displayed in white on a black background – a colour that continues on the flange, marked with a white minute track.
True to its square “TV” case with rounded corners, inspired by Mido models from the 1970s, the S01E02 is forged from robust and resistant stainless steel with grey PVD treatment. A crown guard protects this component from impacts. The grey steel extends onto the metal bracelet, with polished centre links. To vary the styles, Mido has designed two additional straps – in blue and yellow rubber – which are easily interchangeable. The watch comes with a specially designed box, highlighting its exclusivity.
Beneath this screen-dial, the automatic Caliber 80 plays a precision starring role. For exceptional reliability and accuracy, its power reserve of up to 80 hours is assured thanks to its Nivachron™ balance spring. This alloy offers outstanding resistance to magnetism and impacts. Water-resistant up to a pressure of 10 bar, the watch also features a transparent case back that reveals this latest-generation Swiss movement, with an oscillating weight decorated with Côtes de Genève and engraved with the Mido logo.
Already a collector’s item, proposed in a special edition, the Multifort TV Big Date S01E02 will appeal to enthusiasts of fine Swiss mechanics, ultra-precise, reliable and happy to share the limelight with a striking design.
