Two new dimensions of M.A.D.2 by Eric Giroud

The M.A.D.2 was launched in 2025 – in Green and Orange – as the perfect vehicle for designer Eric Giroud to express his passion for the wild spirit of 1990s club culture. With a design inspired by vinyl records and DJ turntables, it paid tribute to the world of music and endless nights spinning records. In 2026, two new editions join the collection, both in a striking mix of red and black.

T

he first new edition is called R&B – short for Red & Black, but also a nod to the music genre that has always been part of club life. The dial plate and strap come in stealthy midnight black, contrasted by red jumping-hour and trailing-minute discs.

The M.A.D.2 R&B is available through the raffle system that has become a trademark of M.A.D.Editions. Registrations remain open for one week, giving everyone interested in acquiring a piece plenty of time to participate; the subsequent random draw will, as always, be conducted under the supervision of a bailiff, giving everyone a fair chance.

The second new edition is a very special one: as its name implies, REDemption is reserved exclusively for loyal but unlucky (until now) fans of the brand who have participated in at least four previous raffles without ever winning. Those persistent fans will be contacted directly by the M.A.D.Editions team and will not need to go through a raffle for the M.A.D.2 REDemption: if they wish to acquire the piece, they will have direct access to it.

The dial plate of the M.A.D.2 REDemption is bright red, with black jumping-hour and trailing-minute discs. The turntable-like winding rotor on the back carries a special engraving saluting the perseverance of those fans who didn’t give up: “They say I’m stubborn, I’d say persistent.”

After multiple variations of the initial and hugely successful M.A.D.1, signed by MB&F founder Maximilian Büsser, the M.A.D.2 opened a new chapter and told a different story – a new Edition, signed by Eric Giroud. After 20 years of creative partnership with Max at MB&F, it only made sense for Eric to join the M.A.D.Editions adventure.

The M.A.D.2 is the second act in a saga that started with an unexpected hit – the M.A.D.1 – and a love letter to the wild spirit of 1990s club culture. Eric and Max both hail from Lausanne; in the ’90s, Eric was tearing it up on dancefloors, living the club scene at the legendary MAD (Moulin à Danses) and Dolce Vita clubs, surrounded by musicians, actors, artists… and DJs.

The M.A.D.2’s raised central subdials – displaying the hours and minutes – look like the turntables of a DJ mixing console. The central dial’s grooves and colour mimic a vinyl record. Surrounding it is the platter, inspired by the stroboscopic band of the legendary Technics SL-1200 Mark 2 turntable, complete with Super-LumiNova stop pins. Every flick of the wrist sets the platter spinning: it is in fact the automatic winding rotor, visible from both the front and the back.

The M.A.D.2’s 42mm stainless steel and sapphire case is shaped like a rounded pebble, with metal markers indicating the time at the centre of the watch. And there’s a horological surprise: the bi-directional jumping-hour module developed by the MB&F team. It is powered by the Swiss-made La Joux-Perret G101 calibre, beating at 4Hz and offering 64 hours of power reserve.
