Piaget and Wristcheck unite to reimagine the Altiplano Ultimate Automatic

Representing a new generation of watch enthusiasts, Wristcheck now brings its distinctive perspective to one of Piaget’s most radical creations – the ultra-thin Altiplano Ultimate Automatic. Adorned in Wristcheck’s signature blue and limited to 30 pieces, the watch reflects the shared daring and ingenuity that define both Maisons.

hen Austen Chu founded Wristcheck in Hong Kong in 2020, he was just 24. Already an influential voice in the watch community through his Instagram platform @horoloupe, he was part of a new generation of collectors who believed the industry needed to evolve. At the time, the secondary watch market was booming, yet trust, transparency, and reliable information were still missing.

What began as a personal passion quickly developed into something much bigger – a global platform designed to bring trust and transparency to the way watches are bought, sold, talked about, and learned about in the secondary market, both online and offline. In just a few years, Wristcheck has grown into a truly global platform connecting collectors from over 50 countries, supported by a rapidly expanding international presence with physical locations in Hong Kong, Macau, and New York.

Every watch is rigorously authenticated and graded by in-house watchmakers, reinforcing trust at the core of the platform. Beyond transactions, Wristcheck has also built a strong community, shaping conversations around watch culture through its content and one of the most influential social presences in the watch space. Backed by investors including Jay-Z and Kylian Mbappé, Wristcheck has also expanded its role within the industry, working closely with primary watch brands and helping bridge the gap between the primary and secondary markets.

That same spirit of forward thinking resonates naturally with Piaget. Throughout its history, the Maison has distinguished itself through daring creativity, technical innovation, and a willingness to challenge conventions. Known for its select and considered approach to collaborations, Piaget rarely produces limited editions – making this partnership a particularly special one. It is this shared mindset – rooted in curiosity, ambition, and the desire to move watch culture forward – that brought the collaboration between Piaget and Wristcheck to life.

Wristcheck has built its reputation by challenging traditional codes and assumptions. It now turns its attention to one of Piaget’s ultra-thin icons: the 41 mm Altiplano.

While this piece embodies the art of thinness that has been part of the Maison’s legacy since 1874, it is far from the most conventional version in the collection. Instead, Wristcheck chose to personalise one of the most distinctive Altiplano variations. The Altiplano Ultimate Automatic 910P in white gold defies technical boundaries at just 4.3 mm thick. Its calibre is not only a remarkable feat of mechanical engineering, but also a striking visual creation. The fusion of case and movement reveals 238 components and reflects the savoir-faire and daring that led the Maison to create it.

This spirit is captured in the words of founder Georges-Edouard Piaget – a motto that continues to inspire artisans at the Ateliers de l’Extraordinaire in La Côte-aux-Fées and Geneva: “Always do better than necessary.”

This pursuit of the extraordinary has long driven the Maison to push the boundaries of elegance and innovation. Since the launch of the iconic 9P movement in 1957, followed by the self-winding 12P in 1960, Piaget has continued to refine the art of ultra-thin watchmaking, culminating in the Altiplano Ultimate in 2014 and the Altiplano Ultimate Automatic 910P in 2017. The design was later recognised with the Mechanical Exception Prize at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève in 2021.

Under the impetus of Wristcheck, this masterpiece of thinness takes on finishes in its signature blue – from the hour counter and hands to the screws and the peripheral rotor, which draws the eye across the graceful architecture of the watch. Limited to 30 pieces, this Altiplano Ultimate Automatic features a double engraving on the caseback bearing both the Wristcheck logo and the Piaget crest. It is paired with a deep blue calfskin strap chosen by the collective, designed for everyday wear and finished with Wristcheck blue topstitching.

More than a simple variation, this collaboration offers a fresh perspective on the elegance and tradition that have defined the Maison for more than 150 years.
