Tissot inks deal with NASCAR

February 2006

Tissot will serve as the “official timekeeper” and “official watch” of NASCAR for the 2006 season.

As part of its partnership with the auto-racing league, Tissot will launch a new line of official NASCAR watches this month. They will be available in watch retail stores across the US market this spring. The designs will incorporate images and design elements from engine components, tires, wheels and other speedway symbols.

“We are looking forward to working with NASCAR Timing & Scoring to explore opportunities to integrate our expertise and technology,” Tissot President Francois Thiebaud said in a statement. “And since we are, at our core, a watch company, we are pleased to design and produce the first official NASCAR watch.”

A member of the Swatch group, Tissot already serves as the official timekeeper for world championships in cycling, motorcycling, fencing and hockey.

Sales of NASCAR's licensed products have increased 250 percent over the past 10 years, now drawing $2.1 billion in sales annually. NASCAR races air weekly in more than 33 languages in 150 countries around the world.
