125 Years of Longines Timekeeping

On January 28, 2003, the Swiss watch company Longines has celebrated 125 years of exceptional timekeeping performance. To commemorate Longines' proud jubilee, G. Nicolas Hayek Jr. (CEO of the Swatch Group) and Walter von Kaenel (President of Longines) have inaugurated an exhibition reviewing 125 years of sports timekeeping. This event was attended by leading Swiss and foreign sports personalities like Longines' ambassadress of elegance and gymnast Alina Kabaeva, Mr. Denis Oswald and Prof. Bruno Grandi, both Member of the International Olympic Committee, Dongua Li, Olympic gold medal winner in gymnastics, Yvonne van Gennip, multiple Olympic gold medial winner in speed skating and Markus Fuchs, equestrian rider. On this occasion, Longines has introduced its “Honour and Glory” set, a 125 unit limited edition of a presentation case containing a pair of prestigious timepieces: a vintage sports timer and a wrist chronograph patterned on the timer's original design.
